NAC swimmers kicked off the 2017 Long course season at the April Invite in Brentwood, TN. This was the first long course meet experience for 50 of NAC's 190 competitors and a great experience to get off the block, set a bench mark for the season, and have fun! NAC Senior group athletes were recognized at this year's awards banquet, held Thursday, April 27 at Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville, TN. Over the first weekend in March, NAC qualifiers, raced at the Southern Premier meet. For 11&overs, Southern Premier is a grueling prelim/final meet where the athletes are racing up to 20 races in a 3-day time span. A 3-day prelim/final meet takes a lot of preparation and focus. NAC athletes represented their schools and club with pride at the 2017 TISCA Tennessee State High School Championships. This year's meet, hosted in Knoxville, TN saw NAC athletes Alex Walsh (Harpeth Hall, 200FR, 100BK) and Allie Raab (Brentwood Academy, 100BR) set new state records. Nashville Aquatic Club swimmers represented their schools and dominated the podium at the MTHSSA High School Region meet and Middle School championship this past weekend. For the High School Region meet, NAC swimmers came in winning 7 of the 8 individual men's events, and women captured 5 of the 8 individual event titles. Former NAC Coach Charlie Hodgson has been selected by the American Swimming Coaches Association for induction into their Hall of Fame. Coach Hodgson, who has worked with NAC for the past decade, has been an incredibly valuable asset and mentor to many athletes in the Nashville swimming community! Hodgson was inducted into the University of Miami athletics Hall of Fame in 2016. In the month of December we challenged our Age Group athletes to become more aware and engaged in proper hydration and fueling for practice. This challenge was set up to help the athletes learn and understand the importance and how these factors play into optimal preparation and performance.
