Coast hosts three home meets each year: Sand Dollar (July), Rick Byers (October), and Weekend at Bernie's (December). In order to successfully run a home meet, Coast needs parent volunteers to time the swim meet. Being a swim meet timer is a simple way to make a big difference for your team—and it can actually be a lot of fun! Timers are the people who make sure every swimmer’s hard work and fast strokes are counted accurately. Even a tiny fraction of a second matters in swimming, so your focus helps keep the competition fair and exciting.

Getting started is easy. You can sign up before the meet, and we’ll show you exactly how to use stopwatches or electronic timing systems. You’ll learn where to stand, when to start and stop your watch, and how to pass your times to the officials. All you need is a little attention and enthusiasm!

Timing isn’t just about numbers—it’s about helping swimmers reach their personal bests, keeping the races running smoothly, and being part of the action. Every parent who steps up to time helps make the meet a fun and fair experience for everyone.
