Coast Aquatics Code of Conduct
Subject: Reminder: COAST Codes of Conduct for Athletes and Parents
Dear Coast Aquatics Families,
As we continue to strengthen our team culture of respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship, we’d like to remind all families of our COAST Codes of Conduct for Athletes, Parents/Guardians, and Coaches, based on USA Swimming’s Safe Sport model guidelines and posted on our website.
These expectations are part of every swimmer’s and family’s commitment when joining the team, and they help ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all.
Athlete Code of Conduct Highlights:
Swimmers are expected to:
-
Show respect and courtesy to teammates, coaches, officials, and competitors at all times.
-
Demonstrate good sportsmanship and a positive example in practices, meets, and team spaces.
-
Refrain from inappropriate behavior, including foul language and discriminatory conduct.
-
Follow team rules and USA Swimming’s Code of Conduct, including respecting property and facilities.
Violations may result in disciplinary action as determined by coaches and the Board.
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct Highlights:
Parents and guardians are expected to:
-
Model sportsmanship, respect, and common courtesy toward all members of the swimming community.
-
Support your swimmer’s growth by encouraging them and respecting the coaches’ authority.
-
Avoid coaching from the stands and direct concerns appropriately, starting with your child’s coach.
-
Never use abusive language or gestures toward officials, coaches, volunteers, athletes, or other parents.
Coaches’ Code of Conduct Highlights
Coaches are committed to:
-
Adhering to USA Swimming’s rules and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
-
Setting a positive example of respect, sportsmanship, and appropriate boundaries with athletes.
