Pictured here, you can see that Grant Hashimoto has a passion for going fast. Grant was selected as the Senior Group "Swimmer of the Month" for April, 2007. Grant receives this award, because of his committment to practice doubles and his dedication to hard work while in the pool. The work has paid off, with serveral new personal best times in USA Swimming. He has also netted two CCS qualifications in the 100 free and the 200 free. I am proud to announce Morgan Dodd as the Age Group Swimmer of the Month for March 2007. Morgan is a hard worker whose attendance at practice is nearly perfect. While at practice, she listens well, always tries her best, and never complains. Morgan works hard to improve her strokes and it has shown at recent swim meets. At the Gilroy meet last month, Morgan swam best times in all of her events, including a six second drop in the 50 yd Freestyle. Morgan leads through example; her positive attitude...

Rachel Best is Novice Group's Swimmer of the Month! She has definitely earned it with her hard work and determination as a swimmer. I am very proud as her coach of how she has come a long way since I have first started coaching her and has dramatically improved in her stroke skills and attitude. Rachel deserves this award because of her outstanding attendance and continuous swimming throughout each practice, making it enjoyable for both her and fellow swimmers in the water and the coaches on deck. Lauren Reineking has been selected as the Pre-Senior Swimmer of the Month. Lauren earned this award by having a great attendance rate. She also has exhibited shear determination and incredible personal effort at practice. She had numerous personal best times at the SBA swim meet. She is a joy to coach and her attitude is extremely positive. Lauren is a leader by example.

Join us for the opening night of the movie PRIDE on Friday, March 23,2007 at 8:00pm at the Maya Theater,Salinas, Ca. Please bring a check made out to SVA with the number of tickets requested to Coach Dia or to the MCATSVA office by Wednesday, March 21,2007. The cost is $5.50 per person. This movie is about the accomplishments of a swim team and is showing in most theaters throughout the USA.

Spenser Thompson and JD Morris of MCAT/ Salinas Valley Aquatics competed in the Pacific Swimming All Star Age Group meet March 4,2007 in San Francisco, Calif. Spenser earned two first place finishes at the meet, with personal best times in the 200 Free (1:51.53) and the 100 Breast (1:05.66). Both swims earned Spenser his USA Swimming AAA times. JD Morris swam two personal best times at the meet in the 200 Free (2:11.94) and the 50 F (28.93).

Swimming Goes Hollywood! Be on the lookout March 23 for a major motion picture about swimming! Not only is it about swimming, but about USA Swimming coach Jimmy Ellis. The movie PRIDE is based on true events and tells the inspiring story of Ellis of the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. JD Morris and Spenser Thompson from MCAT/SVA earned the prestigeous honor to participate on the 2007 Zone 1 South All-Star Development Meet team. The meet will be held at the Koret Center on the campus of USF in San Francisco this year on Sunday, March 4. Congratulations Boys!
