Welcome to Sea Snakes Summer Swim 2024!   

 

We are all so excited for summer swim this year and look forward to working with your swimmers at practices and watching them rock it at meets. We hope they have a great summer learning, competing, and of course having a good time with friends new and old. Please read through the information below to get you and your swimmer ready for the season. Most importantly, both new and returning families should register your swimmer ASAP on our team website, TeamUnify/Shepherdseasnakes.com, after you have paid your Shepherd practice fee.

Summer Swim Announcements and Information: 

  • Mandatory Parent Meeting Monday May 20, 7-8 pm at the Wellness Center Conference Room (down the hallway behind the Cafe). 

  • Send at least one parent/guardian representative from each family.  

  • Information on equipment, practice expectations, meet sign-up and participation, fundraising, parent volunteer expectations, and so forth.  

  • Swimmers who register on TeamUnify by May 5th will be able to pick up their team shirt, cap and swim journal.  

  • TEAM UNIFY REGISTRATION - If you have already registered through myshepherdwellness.com, then the next step is completing the TeamUnify/SportEngine website registration.  

  • The Summer Meet Schedule is listed on the Summer Swim information page.  

  • As the season gets closer, all the meets and events will be posted on the Meet and Events page on our team website.  There you will be able to find all dates, times, locations opt-in information, volunteer slots, and updates.

  • Long Course Meets are currently posted and will be available for 12 and up swimmers who wish to register in our Long Couse Season USA Swimming add-on program (See below) 

  • Fins and other gear.  Remember, both Spring and Summer sessions require fins and yoga mats for all participants. They are essential to getting our athletes' kick correct and efficient. You can find them at swimoutlet.com or Amazon. They should be about $20-$30. Yoga mats ($5 at 5-Below!) are also necessary for stretching before practice and keeping swimmers off the pool deck. An extra towel may be used as a substitute. Team competition suits are optional but encouraged, see the Equipment page for more information.  

 

 

USA Swimming Long Course Add-On   

 

  • May 20 – July 20, 2024 – USA Swimming Long Course Season Add-On package 

  • 12 and Older 

  • Must be a registered USA Swimming member 

  • Long Course Season meets are held in 50 meter pools (no flip turns at the 25!). 

  • Whether you are swimming Sea Snakes MASSL or enjoying another team in the area for the summer, registered USA Swimming Sea Snakes ages 12 and older are invited to join this Long Course Season offering which will include: 

  • 2 whole-team LC meets in June (Winchester and Keystone) with Coach Tim and/or Coach Erica (see Meets and Events Page) 

  • 1 optional Final Championship Meet in Mylan Park in July for ages (we will not have a Sea Snakes coach in attendance at this meet, but we will get your events sent in and set you up with another coach there) 

  • Two 1.5 hr. each evening practices a week May 20- July 17 at Shepherd. Practices will focus more on distance swims to complement your shorter sprint training at Summer Swim. See practice schedule here:  

  • Total Cost: $254 per swimmer 

    - $134 practice fee will be due to Shepherd Wellness Center to cover all practices 

    -Register now at myshepherdwellness.com 

    - $120 Team Fee will be due separately by the first day of practice to cover the additional costs involved with competitive swimming including coach season planning/admin time, meet entries and coaches on deck 

    - We will send out information to registered swimmers with instructions for this payment 

    - Meet Fees - There will also be meet fees due for each meet you participate in, which will be paid to the host teams.

    -Ranges $30-$100 a meet depending on how many sessions you participate in and the number of events the coach enters you in.
