YFD competed in two prestigious championship meets this past weekend. Sophie Halper traveled to Clearwater, Florida for the 2014 NASA Junior Nationals and sisters Jessica and Emily Weiss traveled to Rochester for the 2014 All-Star Easter zone championships. YFD Swim Club sent over 30 swimmers to the 2014 Metropolitan Swimming Junior Olympic Championships this past weekend. Our athletes were extremely impressive at the meet posting many lifetime best times, several final swims, and lots of fun had by all. We are pleased to announce that 92Y Flying Dolphins will host a lecture by sports nutrition consultant Heidi Skolnik, who will discuss “Fuel for Performance” on Wednesday, April 2 nd , 2014 at 6:30pm to 8pm. in the Warburg Room at the 92Y. Congratulations to YFD Senior swimmer Abby Damsky at the signing with Brandeis University. Abby chose Brandeis early decision because it combines the faculty and resources of a research institution with the intimacy and personal attention of a small liberal arts college. Brandeis gives its students many opportunities, inside and outside the classroom, while allowing its students to have close relationships with professors. The Jump Start Invitational Meet last weekend was incredible! Along with much bonding, fellowship, team-building, and fun, we were able to crush many personal bests. With improvement seen by each and every swimmer on the team, We were very pleased with the outcome of our away meet at the beautiful Aquatic Center of Greensboro, North Carolina.
