The Gold Medal swimmers performed very well at the first long course meet in almost 2 years. Obviously, we had 100% best times. One of our primary goals was to establish long course state qualifying times. Many of our swimmers previously had short course (25 yard pool) state qualifying times, but for state meet seeding purposes, everyone needs to establish good long course (50 meter pool) state qualifying times. 34 Gold Medal swimmers competed in 195 total events. Junior Olympics Wrap-up Senior Group Eight Senior Group swimmers competed in the JO meet and seven recorded at least one best time. Overall, the group achieved five new Senior State times. The top female performer was Tatum Spray, with four best times and two new Senior State cuts. The top male performer was Dylan George, with seven best times. Gold Medal Swim Club had some outstanding performaces at the Western Zone Sectional Championships at Phoenix Swim Club. The team had 12 swimmers at the meet, with 10 of them competing for the first time at this higher level meet. Gold Medal placed 16th among a group of most of the top teams in the Western Zone, which includes all the Western states but California. Pre-senior and Senior swimmers at the Age Group State Meet, swam many amazing races at the the State Age Group Meet. There were huge time drops and victories by a number of swimmers from both groups. Since the event limit was six and there were two relay lead-off possibilitites, and a 1000 split in the 1650, the most best times possible was nine. What a great season for AG2 and 3! We had 7 swimmers qualify for State Championships and they had outstanding performances. Excellent work!!! Age Group 1 State Meet Review I would like to congratulate all the AG1 swimmers who participated in the State Age Group Championships. Not only did they qualify for the State Championship meet, every participant contributed points to our best team finish ever – 2nd place overall.
