Senior One and Blue January Wrap-up There was a lot of racing in January with the Dual Meet Champs and those that participated in the All Star meet against San Diego swimming. The swimmers in both groups really raised their level of performance on Monday for the championship session and the 1000 yard freestyles. Gold Medal had 16 swimmers represent Arizona at the All Star Meet vs the San Diego Imperial LSC. Notably, Gold Medal had the highest number of swimmers selected to the team from any club in AZ. The AZ LSC demolished the competition to bring home the win for the 2nd year in a row. Swimmer of the Month for Age Group One Leah Bushko had a great December meet with 7 best times and made it back for finals in 6 of her events! This includes a 6 second drop in her 100 free, 10 second drop in her 100 fly, and her first time under 30 seconds in the 50 free. Leah has also had near perfect practice attendance and an amazing attitude and mindset at workouts!

The coaches will be selecting a swimmer from their group(s) each month that displays excellent attendance, attitude, and work ethic, and meet perfomances. Each swimmer will receive recognition in front of their group and receive a gift card or swim team related item to recognize their achievement. Senior III Of the 7 participants for Senior III at the SAC meet, Aliya Hawkins, Brendan Skaggs, Chris Laprath, and Alex Gonzales all earned spots in the finals. Many new best times were set for group. The most outstanding performance was turned in by Alex Gonzales who placed top 8 in all 4 of his events, and established his first state qualifying time in the 50 Freestyle!
