Renata Martinez

Head Coach, Senior Elite and Junior Elite Group, National Coach, Swim School Director, Team Admin

This is Renata's eight season with FAC. During this time Renata coached Junior National, Winter Nationals, Futures and Sectionals individual swimmers as well as relays. She also helped many SAG/E SAG/JAG/WAG quaifiers and finailsts to reach their potential.

Prior to joining FAC Renata coached for 3 years in Palo Alto and Stanford, California with Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics. During this time, PASA was recognized as a USA Swimming Gold Medal Club and ranked  as the top club team in Northern California. Renata was the lead coach of one of the Senior groups as well as Age group coach. She also assisted with the National group and was able to learn from great coaches in the area such as Greg Meehan, Tracy Slusser and Joey Sementelli. Prior to PASA Renata coached age group and developmental swimmers with Rose Bowl Aquatics under Jeff Julian.  Additionally Renata was the Head Coach of the La Cañada High School Swim Team for 2 seasons, which under her leadership was able to bring the team from last place in the league to second place. Renata is proud to have trained 14 CIF Division 1 qualifiers and 8 finalists, multiple Far Westerns and Junior Olympics finalists and Sectionals qualifiers. Renata has been teaching Learn to Swim private lessons as well as high quality stroke sessions to advanced level athletes since she was 18 years old.

 

Renata is also proud to have served as an assistant for CMS (Claremont-Mudd-Scrippps Colleges), division 3 college team in Claremont, California. CMS is a current NISCA Conference Champion with 24 swimmers qualified for NCAA. Coaching under Charlie Griffiths has been a great experience of outstanding leadership of success.


Before Renata moved to the United States she taught and coached in her home country of the Czech Republic with Prague Sharks International Swim Club. She was the senior assistant coach, lead age group coach and lead developmental group coach. She was awarded with the First Class Swimming Coach Certificate from the Czech Swimming Association, which gave her the opportunity to spend time with the Czech National Team and assist the Head Coach with everyday practice preparing for the Olympic Games.

Renata received her Master’s degree from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where she studied Physical Education and Sport Science with additional minor in swim coaching. She is an experienced athlete of over 12 years. Renata started swimming when she was 10 and with hard work and never ever give up attitude she became the most valuable swimmer for her high school team where she was a captain for all 4 years. Renata also represented Charles University at Czech University Games and was a valuable member of her team all 4 years.

 

Away from the pool Renata loves to spend time with her husband Rio, six year old twins Stella and Julian and 3 dogs Randy, Mindy and Peanut.

 

 

Jennifer Espinoza

Junior Advanced, Senior Advanced, Masters

Jennifer has been involved with FAC for about 16 years, first as a parent of a swimmer and now going into her 6th year coaching. Jennifer’s competitive swimming background started when she turned 40 and joined the Fontana Flyers Masters Swim Team. Jennifer competed for about a year and her favorite events were One Mile Open Water swims. Jennifer is an Elementary Physical Education teacher. Physical activity and kids are her passions in life. Jennifer also completed Personal Fitness Trainer certification which helps continue her personal journey in living a "fit" life.
