On December 14-17th 2023, 6 Inconnu swimmers attended JP Fiset competition in Edmonton. This meet had the participation of 31 teams from BC, Alberta, Ontario and Saskatchewan for a total of 600 athletes! Our swimmers had an impressive 98% of Personal best, and also managed to score 8 swims within the top 10 of the competition. Many of the swims that happened at this event are from swimmers who are ranked top 10 in the country, so the competition was very high, and our athletes gained a lot of experience...
This past weekend Inconnu Swim Club Hosted its Annual Sadownik Invitational 2023 with the participation of 59 swimmers from all across our program (Pups to Senior). It was an awesome experience and opportunity for everyone to race hard, show our skills learned so far and also to introduce our new members to a competition event. I am happy to share the results of our recent swim meet in Grande Prairie during the Fast Track competition from November 17-19. Our team made an impressive splash, with 35 dedicated athletes representing Inconnu Swim Club. During this event, our swimmers achieved an outstanding 95% personal best rate, showcasing their hard work and commitment to improvement. Notably, many of our swimmers secured top-eight placements in nearly every event, highlighting the exceptional talent within our club. Senior and Natioanl groups are heading to the first training camp in a long time for the Inconnu Swim Club on March 18th - March 29th in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The purpose of this camp is to build an even harder training program for a short period of time while the swimmers are in Mexico, create a stronger bond in between these two groups outside the pool, and get to know the country that the swimmers are visiting by learning about the community and the culture/food. The club hosted its very first sanctioned event for the 2022-203 season on Saturday February 25th, where our Juniors, Intermediates, Senior and National kids raced one distance event each. Juniors raced the 200 free, Intermediates raced the 400 free and the Senior/National raced the 800 free. This past weekend saw over 550 swimmers from more than 30 teams descend upon the UBC Aquatics Centre in Vancouver for the Summer edition of BC Provincials. While Inconnu had a small group of swimmers hit qualifying standards, just one swimmer made the trip down for the meet. This past weekend saw a group of Inconnu swimmers take a trip down south to participate in the summer edition of the Northern & Interior Divisionals. Julien Kemp, Ryder Modde, Viggo Pedersen, Rylan Pomeroy, Kieran Rogers, Nate Rogers, Elias Stirling, Mason Stirling, and Mya Waberski suited up to represent the team. This past weekend saw a contingent of four swimmers from the Fort St. John Inconnu head down south to compete in the Cascade Swimming International. The meet featured over 300 swimmers from across Western Canada, as teams from BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, (as well as a team from Houston, Texas) made the trip. The meet was held at the beautiful MNP Community and Sports Centre in downtown Calgary. Inconnu Spring Sprint Cup This past May long weekend the Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club welcomed a small group of Grande Prairie Piranhas to dual in the Spring Sprint Cup. The meet was dedicated to one of our own teammates, Tegan Nielsen. Through a bake sale, along with individual and corporate generosity, we were able to raise over $4,300. This past weekend saw the Grande Prairie Piranhas play host for the 2022 Northern Lights Swim Meet, among the teams competing were the Fort St. John Inconnu. A total of 10 teams competed, most coming from the Edmonton area or other parts of Northern Alberta. Twenty-eight swimmers represented Fort St. John at the meet where just under 300 total swimmers competed.
