Stefan was the lead off leg of Canada's bronze medal relay at the Junior Pan Pacs. His lead off leg was also a club record which is the third time he has set this mark this season. Further results from Stefan included a club record 15-17 in 400 free and a blistering 100 freestyle swim that set new club records in both the 15-17 age category and the senior mark. Stefan is now the fastest swimmer all time in Hyack history in both the 100 and 200 freestyle Long course....

On the strength of four final swims Hyack held onto 12th place at the National Championships. Sherry won her 4th gold of the meet in 400 free and Sara Whelan just missed a medal by 2/10th as she finished 4th in the 200 IM. Stefan settled for 7th in the 200 IM and Wendy Yang added to her medal total with a silver in the 50 fly where she also broke the club record at 29.34. Jasmine Whelan cranked out a great effort to nab bronze in her 200 breaststroke. Sherry Liu takes gold in the 200 free with a great first 100 and held off the charge from the second place swimmer to stop the clock first at the finish. Stefan similarly went out strong and held onto the lead he established heading into the 100 to win his first 200 free national championship. Sherry Liu claimed gold in the 800 free 20 minutes after having swam to 5th place in 200 fly. Wendy Yang grabbed bronze in 50 free. Outside of the medals there were several finals all coming in 5 and 6. Sara and jasmine in 100 breast Mia in her first ever national final along with Stefan in 200 fly. The evening started off with a bang from Wendy Yang winning silver in 100 fly with a new club record time breaking the 1978 mark. Chris Baker claimed 6th with a great swim just off the club record. Then 50 breast came up and from the morning swims Ethan Laing achieved a new club record with 35.54. Jasmine Whelan raced to 4th followed by Sara Whelan 6th both BT. Sherry claimed gold in her signature event the 800 free. She led from start to finish clearing the field early in the race. Stefan's 200 IM b final saw him again battle from behind as the field got out very fast. Playing catchup the entire way Stefan claws his way back to 7th just off his best time from the morning session. Now we head to Age Nats for competition starting next week.

Stefan has officially been named to the Junior Pan Pacific team representing Canada. This will be Stefan's first national team appointment. The competition is slated for late August in Hawaii. He will head to training camp at UBC first for two weeks then the team will travel to Hawaii. Sherry Liu also qualified for the team but has declined due to her commitments this fall in preparation for Harvard.
