Hyack opens up the first day of Provincials with 22 individual finals (and 6 alternates) and 5 top 8 relay finishes. Top 3 finishers include Wendy Yang, Dima Lim, Stefan Milosevic, Sherry Liu, Jasmine Whelan, Ethan Laing, Devon Joanis, Christopher Polok, and Chris Baker. Day 2 proved to be a decent day. 9 swims from the prelims made it through to the finals (also, one alternate spot for Gabriella Sali (9th by .11........:( )). Our 10 & under girls, Jaime Lavoie and Grace Lin, made the 100 Fly final and had an entertaining race. Grace earns her first medal ever with a bronze in the 11 & under 100 Fly. (See THE FACEBOOK for pictures !!) The prelim session was well raced by all Hyack swimmers. There were 11 swims that made it through and 3 "oh so close but yet so far"s (aka alternates...). Great racing on the first morning. Sehajvir Singh got his first AAA's in the morning session and went on to win 2 Silvers and a Gold in the afternoon. Great job to Stefan and Sherry for finals on Saturday night at Mel Zajac! Sherry was 4th in the 400 free with 4:16.38, Stefan was 5th in the 400 free B final going 4:08.6 and 8th in the 50 free C final going 25.14.
Sherry Liu smashed her personal best 800 free racing to second place and another trip to the podium for a dolphin statue. Her 8.40.85 was a close race and a new club record for 15-17 and Senior categories. 200 fly next and Sherry was back up again along with Abi Sayer, where they came in 3rd and 6th in the B final. Stefan followed in the A final placing 6th with a smidgy best time. The last race was the boys medley relay placing 7th in the B final
Sherry Liu lowered for the third time in 3 races the 15-17 200 free record going 202.44 in the finals tonight. Gold medal or in this meet, a large dolphin was in order for Stefan's 400 IM as he smashed the final to finish first at 430.22. It is also a new club record. Justin was next in 50 fly c final finishing a bit back from the morning swim. Last up was Sherry again for 1500 where she smashed the club record on the way to a close second...
