The Killarney Swim Club has been busy kicking off the Long Course season. Over the last 3 weeks the team has been in action at 5 competitions!!! Another great start to the Long Course Season!!! Killarney’s Performance Group has landed in Kauai for their Spring Break Training Camp. From March 26 to April 6th the Killarney contingent of eighteen will be turning up the waters at the Lihue YMCA. The YMCA is a 20-lane yard by 50m Long course pool. The team will swim singles and double practices each day with Easter Sunday off. Between swims the group will be discovering the Hawaiian Island with Beach hopping, Surfing Lessons, Boat Ride, Snorkeling, Luau, Hiking. The team will end the camp with a 1 Day competition...

The Killarney Swim Club was in action at the Canadian Western Championships last week. The competition was held in Winnipeg at the Pan Am Pool. The meet attracted 450 swimmers from across western provinces and a few eastern teams. KSC sent a contingent of 14 swimmers: Molly Fleming, Matea Gigovic, Brandon Hachey, Ali Kardas, Oliva Hatch, Megan L’Heureux, Balazs Moldovan, Alan Piatek, Bronwyn Preece, Grace Rowe, Brooklin Rideout, Maya Share, Charlie Trofimuk, and Soren Young. Last weekend the AB Championships were held at the MNP Sports Center. The meet attracted 500 swimmers from Alberta and BC. Killarney had a contingent of 34 swimmers at the competition. The team had an excellent showing. Killarney finished 3rd in team scoring behind University of Calgary Swim Club and Edmonton Keyano. Swimmers posted 187 individual best times on route to 40 provincial medals including 11 event winners. Six club records were set in the individual and relay events. The Killarney Swim Club was in action at the AB Provincial Trials in Edmonton. The meet attracted 500 swimmers from Alberta and BC. KSC was represented by a contingent of 36 swimmers. This meet was the last chance for swimmers to qualify for this week’s AB Championships. Swimmers could qualify by winning an event or making 2 Championship time standards. Sprockets were flying fish at the Crazy Hat Meet in High River this weekend! We had 115 personal bests between all 54 swimmers. Special commendation goes to Jack P, Avery R, Mason T, Daniel M, Milo W, Jamie T and Penelope H who swam their first 200 Free at this meet! Amazing Job! It was wonderful seeing so many parents in the viewing area cheering on their Sprockets. I hope to see a sea of Black and Green in the viewing area at Canmore Wild Hair!

Last weekend, the Killarney Swim Club kicked off the New Year at the AB Winter Festival South. Killarney was represented by 28 swimmers. The meet attracted the best 11 & Under Boys and 10 & Under girls from Southern Alberta and the East Kootenays. KSC swimmers produced 162 individual best times. The Killarney Seniors and Intermediates were in action last weekend in Edmonton for OSC’s JP Fiset Competition. This meet is one of the Provincial Series competitions. The meet attracted over 500 swimmers from Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan. Killarney had a contingent of 30 swimmers. The team posted 375 personal best times on route to 19 medals including 4 gold. On the weekend the Killarney Swim Club was Rocking Around the Christmas Tree at the Pacific Coast Christmas Cracker and the Cascade Age Group Challenge. In Victoria, the team was represented by 17 swimmers. The team had an excellent showing posting 93 best times, 3 Provincial Records, 5 Club Records, and winning 17 medals.
