Information about Membership Fees, Swim Meet Fees & Volunteer Points Requirements
What are Membership Fees?
- Membership fees are determined yearly by group placement and used to cover pool rental/lifeguard costs, coaching fees and administration costs, etc.
- For families that have more than one swimmer in the club, the swimmer in the highest group pays the full membership fee and the remaining swimmers will receive a discount on their membership fees.
- See below for more information about how membership fees are established.
What Do My Membership Fees Pay For?
- The Windsor Aquatic Club is a non-for-profit organization that employs a salaried Head Coach and salaried Assistant Coach. Under the direction of the Head Coach, multiple hourly assistant coaches are employed for SEAL, Competitive, Age Group and Provincial swim groups.
- The Windsor Aquatic Club employs a part-time Club Manager who coordinates Club business and liaises with the coaching staff, Board of Directors and municipality.
- Coach salaries and lane rental/lifeguard/pool fees are major expenses for the Club.
- It is important to note that membership fees only cover a portion of the above expenses and other major costs are covered by WAC hosted swim meets.
- Additional annual fundraising initiatives are required and allow WAC to keep training fees affordable for our swim families.
What are Volunteer Point Requirements?
- WAC is a non-for-profit member run organization that requires families to actively engage in supporting the Club operations. WAC has established a Family Participation Policy to set clear expectations around commitments required from all Competitive Stream family members.
- It is important that each family carefully reviews the Family Points Requirements each year.
The WAC Family Participation Policy covers:
- An overview of the structure of the participation point system and point requirements
- Details of participation opportunities and mandatory participation requirements
- All families in the Competitive stream, will have a point requirement based on the highest level of registered swimmer (Example: If you have swimmers in Seal and Provincials, your point requirements would be based on the Provincial points allotted).
- Please note that each Family point has a $50 value. All points that have not been earned by May 15th of each year will be billed the balance of the family points in the June billing cycle.
- Please see the detailed Volunteer Point Requirement Overview for more information- https://www.teamunify.com/team/canwac/page/officials/members-points
How Are Fees Established?
- The Board, in an amount deemed enough to meet reasonably anticipated expenses for the following year, will establish swimmer fees based on the established annual operating budget. Considerations include pool rental costs, lifeguard requirements/fees, length of season, ability to host meets, other revenue sources.
- Fees shall be reviewed and established on an annual basis, prior to registration of the next season.
- Amounts may be increased or decreased by the Board of Directors and communicated to all members through email, posting on the website or other communications venue.
What are the Payment Requirements?
- All swim fees shall be paid in a timely manner as prescribed by the Board and the allocated timeline.
- Fees may be paid by Credit Card, Cheque or etransfer. Arrangements may be made if you wish to pay by Cash.
- All swimmers must be current with all fees according to the fee payment schedule, in order to practice with the team.
- A swimmer must be current with all fees to be entered in any Swim Ontario or Swim Canada meet (sanctioned or non-sanctioned).
What is the Refund Policy?
- It is important for all families to carefully review the WAC Refund Policy.
- All dues and fees are subject to the Windsor Aquatic Club Refund Policy which can be found HERE
- Please note that as a component of registration all parents are required to read and review the Windsor Aquatic Club Refund Policy.
