INTRODUCING ONLINE TRAINING
USA Swimming is in the process of providing fully online, self-guided courses for Stroke and Turn, Administrative Official, Starter, and Deck Referee. This Spring the Stroke and Turn course has been released and is now the only way to become a Stroke and Turn official. Please follow these instructions to become a Stroke and Turn official. All others please skip down to the section titled “Illinois Swimming Run Clinics.”

ILLINOIS SWIMMING RUN CLINICS
This Spring, Illinois Swimming will run clinics for ONLY Administrative Official. Registration opened April 1.
New officials may only choose Stroke and Turn (run by USA Swimming, see above) or Admin Official. Before registering for a clinic, please make sure that you can attend. There are No Refunds for clinic registration fees.
Within a few days of completing the clinic sign-up process and payment (for Administrative Officials only this Spring), you will receive a link inviting you to an online classroom. The classroom contains short, interactive videos for you to complete. You MUST complete ALL videos before attending the training.
Each training session is led by an experienced Illinois Swimming Official. The clinics have different lengths (approximately 90 minutes for stroke and turn, 2 hours for admin and starter, and three hours for referees).
To register for a clinic:
- Click on "register" on this page for the clinic you wish to attend (as a new official you must start with either Stroke and Turn or Admin Official). This will take you to the registration page for the clinic.
- Click on the "register online" button on the page you are redirected to.
- Click on "Continue or Check Status".
- If you are a new official, this will take you to a page to create a new account. Even though it is on the SportsEngine platform, it is NOT the same as the account you may already have with your club and IS NOTyour USA Swimming non-athlete membership account.
**Please note, that registrations are processed by volunteers on a weekly basis. You may not receive an immediate registration response.
For those looking to become referees, you must have completed and been CERTIFIED as an AO prior to registering for the Deck Referee clinic.
