(Better late than never...) Oh RATS, The Geneva River Rats devoured DCST at the meet they hosted on July 6th. A small group of DCST swimmers participated in the meet at Geneva on the 6th of July. I complimented the hosting team’s coaches on how smoothly the meet went this year. We were ahead of schedule, the temperature was very comfortable, the bugs were at bay, and the water was ready to be raced in. Unfortunately, we did not come out of the meet as victoriously as we did when...

DCST Rocks with the Rock River Y on Thursday, July 6th. Happy after 4th of July swim meet. This was a busy week for everyone. We took the 4th of July off, but back to practices on Wednesday. We swam this meet on a Thursday evening. Many of the swimmers had very busy 4 days of swim meets. The Big Dogs for this meet were: Camila Placios (8) and Kevin Sullivan (10). They showed great team spirit and worked hard in all of their races. Thanks for being a part...

DCST finds reasons to celebrate at the 2017 Illinois Open, Champaign, IL DCST swimmers participated in the 2017 Illinois Open meet in Champaign over the weekend. I think many of the parents enjoyed the weekend away from home more than the swimmers. A block of rooms were reserved at the Home2 by Hilton hotel where families took advantage of the amenities in the evening to laugh and enjoy a little get-a-way time together complete with a cookout. I heard the burgers were really good. DCST swimmers participated in 316 swims...

Open Water State Championship was held at Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie, WI. All of the swimmers began and ended in the beach area. The 10 and under age group swam a 1K, 11-12 year olds swam a 2K, 13-14 and Open swam a 3K. After the event, Cole Moon told me, ”I’d rather swim a 5K than the 3K.” DCST had 6 swimmers participate in the Open Water State Championships. The wind and rain delayed the meet for a short time, but it didn't stop our swimmers from performing...

2017 IL Midway Firecracker Open was held on June 23rd through the 25th. DCST was represented by 19 swimmers ranging in age from our 8 year old swimmer to our 22 year old swimmer. The reports I have heard were that it was a very nice facility and a fun meet to attend. Maybe we can try again next year to send even more swimmers. Fireworks -- a display of brilliance or energy…. Emily Raetzke had the most significant displays of brilliance and energy by improving her LCM times by...

Oswego at DCST – Without the boys, we would have been sunk…. June 27th DCST hosted the meet with the Oswego Otters. We had a total of 85 swimmers participate in the meet and it was as close as you can get to being a 50/50 split between girls and boys. Final score was DCST 402 points over the Oswego Otters with 310 points. DCST girls fell behind in points earning 167 points compared to the 189 points the Otter girls scored. DCST boys managed to out-swim the Otters with...

DCST “trails” Algonquin Trails Swimming at the Algonquin pool brings back fond memories for me, personally. This was the very first pool that Lynnette swam a meet in. I felt like a bad mom expecting my tiny 6 year old to jump into a pool at 7 am when the temperature outside was below 60 degrees. We survived and have been competing for 10 years now. Along the way, we have met some great families and wouldn’t change a thing. Take a look at your swimmer – what’s your favorite...
