Overview

Hatboro Horsham Aquatic Association (HHAA) is a member of the Suburban Aquatic League (SAL). The SAL has 24 member teams from Montgomery and Bucks Counties and offers team competition for both boys and girls.  The boys and girls teams compete separately.  The teams are organized into four divisions, North, Central, West and East. Hatboro Horsham is in the Central Division. Please visit the SAL web page to view league records.

The past year the schedule consisted of  about 5 dual meets and two conference meets.  Meets are held on Saturdays starting in November. The SAL also offers invitational meets that are optional  meets in which you may register to compete.  The season culminates with League and Division Championships.  The SAL provides many opportunities for swimmers and divers to participate and gain experience competing against other swimmers and divers.

HHAA Mission Statement

To provide a competitive swimming and diving program for athletes of all ages and abilities, while expanding their abilities through fun, focused and balanced training.  To promote sportsmanship and teamwork, teaching effective techniques, and developing the work ethic and self-discipline which are necessary for success in and out of the pool.

HHAA Vision Statement

Our vision is to foster the development of highly successful SAL/USA swimming and diving program while providing every child with the tools to become excellent individuals and swimmers/divers.  We are committed to establishing a supportive environment for our athletes, parents, and coaches.  We strive to provide quality instruction and competitive opportunities for our athletes to learn, compete, and enjoy the sport of swimming and/or diving.

Practice and Training

Typically, practice sessions are held  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 6:00-8:00PM depending on the group, at Simmons Elementary School on Babylon Road. Practices are split according to ability and age levels. Schedules will be available monthly. The assigned practice times must be adhered to as this is done to maximize the benefits for all swimmers. Pre-team swimmers practice 45 minutes, while those ready for team competition swim for 1 hour.

We have an excellent coaching staff that combines their expertise and experience to motivate and challenge swimmers to reach their potential in the sport of swimming.  Our coaches have many years of experience  between them and all are equally adept at coaching the various age groups.  They look forward to working with your swimmers.

Practices will  be designed to challenge each swimmer with a workout planned to extend their capabilities.  Emphasis will be placed on stroke mechanics and cardiovascular fitness.  Drills will be designed to improve the level of proficiency and the stroke mechanics of each swimmer.  In order to improve to any degree, the coaches recommend that swimmers attend at least 2 practice sessions per week.

Through stroke, turn and drill work our coaches will challenge the swimmers to constantly strive for improvement in technique and speed.  Swimming is unique in that it is both an individual and team sport.  This provides opportunity for growth both on an individual and team level.

HHAA Diving

HHAA will again be offering  a diving team for this season. Diving takes discipline, a good work ethic and the willingness to practice.  We are here to help your child learn more about diving and what they are capable of in this sport.  Diving can be a scary sport for both child and parent.  Please know that our first concern is your child’s safety.  Gymnastics is good lead-in sport to diving.  A lot of the same body mechanics are utilized.  Other sports lend well to diving as well, though you may not consider them to… soccer for example helps us to know which leg is strongest to kick up in a hurdle and ballet could help us to know the natural twisting direction of a child.  So, while you might not have thought your child had experience with diving, he or she may have some hidden talents for this sport.

Simmons Elementary School is our home pool. Swimmers MUST be registered and rostered 10 days prior to a meet to swim in that meet. Swimmers MUST register to be in the pool at practice.
