ABOUT TYDE SWIM TEAM

As a competitive swim team, TYDE has an expectation of team spirit and sportsmanship in all of our athletes.  It is our mission to create leaders in and out of the pool.  As a YMCA team, we have a strong focus on the Y Core Values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.  We incorporate them into all aspects of our TYDE program.  

Started in 1973 as WSY, TYDE has grown to over 600 swimmers practicing at 11 locations in seven counties across Northwest North Carolina. TYDE offers practice options for beginners just out of swim lessons (Prep Academy) to year-round Age Group Competitive (ages 6-18) to Master's for former college, competitive, and triathlete swimmers as well as those seeking a low-impact exercise routine.  

As part of our commitment to our athletes, TYDE is a USA Swimming-recognized Safe Sport Team. Our top priority continues to be keeping our athletes safe. Essential to that is keeping a positive team culture where no form of abuse, including bullying and child sexual abuse, has a place in our sport or on our team. We will continue to make abuse prevention and response an important piece of everything we do.
