Rochester Rapids Swim Team

The Rochester Rapids Swim Team (RRST) is a non-profit, competitive, age-group swim team for ages 6-21 based in the City of Rochester. We are a fun, family-oriented club committed to building and supporting strong swimmers with strong character. The team consists of four ability levels from those just learning to swim to beginning competitors to top area swimmers.

Groups practice from two to five days a week at Adams St Recreation Center from September to June and also Genesee Valley Park, an outdoor long-course facility, during the summer months. New swimmers can practice with the team for a two-week trial period before committing to joining the Rapids. Learn more about scheduling a two-week trial by browsing our FAQ tab.

The team is run by a Board of Directors consisting of parent volunteers. RRST is a member of the Niagara District of USA Swimming, the governing body for amateur competitive swimming in the United States. The Niagara District encompasses most of western New York. RRST is also a member of the Genesee Valley Swim League of Rochester.

Our mission is to work toward a positive culture for youth in the City of Rochester by encouraging adherence to the fundamentals of sportsmanship, adoption of a healthy lifestyle, an enthusiasm for self-improvement, and a sense of community.

Swimmer Levels:

RRST is divided into five groups: Age Group Levels 1-4 and Senior Team. This is done so that children will practice with other swimmers of similar ability, as well as have an incentive for improvement. The coaching staff is solely responsible for determining within which group a swimmer will practice. The coaches will communicate directly their expectations for all swimmers.

The times provided within the "Groups and Practice Times" tab indicate when the swimmer will be in the water, so please allow extra time before and after for drop off, changing clothes, etc.
