Coach Hannah started coaching Rochester Rapids in 2015. Coach Hannah swam for 10 years. In her 10 years of swimming she swam 8 years on the Hilton Area Swim Team and 2 years at Monroe Community College. While swimming in Hilton she swam on varsity 5 out of her 6 years. At MCC she went to the NJCAA championship both years. Coach Hannah came in 6th in the 1000 Free, 11th in the 400 IM, 12th in the 500 free and 8th in the 1650 as well as part of the 800 free relay that came in 2nd. One of Coach Hannah’s favorite things about coaching is during practice when kids understand a new stroke or drill and they get really excited about it. She also enjoys being at meets watching kids get excited about events, best times and cheering on others.
Coach Luke's passion for swimming began at the age of 8, launching a competitive journey that led him to swim for Nazareth College where he specialized in the IM and breaststroke. When not on the pool deck, Coach Luke is an elementary teacher in the Rochester City School District. He is passionate about using his experience as an educator and athlete to help each swimmer build confidence, refine their technique, and achieve their personal goals.
Coach Caleb swam for 10 years starting in 7th grade all the way through his senior year of college. Coach Caleb's favorite events were the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM. He has been coaching for Rapids since October 2020. He graduated from Nazareth College with an Accounting degree. In addition to being a Coach for the Rochester Rapids, he is a Staff Accountant for Mengel, Metzger, Barr, and Co CPAs and a Reservist for the United States Marine Corps. Coach Caleb mainly works with 3,4 and the senior training groups.
Coach Jess is finishing her first year at RIT as an illustration major and is a member of the RIT Women’s Swimming and Diving team. She is from Long Island, New York, and has been competitively swimming for 11 years. Originally a butterflier, she now specializes as a breaststroker and has qualified for and competed at Speedo sectionals, Future Championships, and Nationals in the 100 & 200 breaststrokes. Jess will be primarily working with our Level 1 and 2 swimmers as well as helping our older swimmers consider opportunities to swim at the collegiate level.
Coach Connor is in his fourth year at RIT, pursuing a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Originally from Allentown, PA, he began competitive swimming at age 7 and transitioned to year-round swimming at 11. Connor recently completed his collegiate swimming career at RIT, where he served as team captain for two years and helped the men's team win four straight Liberty League titles. Connor brings several years of coaching experience, starting as a junior coach on his summer league team and progressing to associate head coach. Like Jess, he will be primarily working with our Level 1 and 2 swimmers and helping our older and more advanced swimmers consider their options for collegiate swimming.
Coach Mike started swimming competitvely at the age of 7. He was a four-year member of the Aquinas Swim team and swam for Rochester Rapids (then under the name of Rochester Recreation) in the early 1990s. Mike competed for Niagara University from 1993 to 1997 and joined the Rapids coaching staff in the Spring of 2022. He is also the head coach of the RCSD United girls and boys swim teams.
