The Barracudas kicked off their competition season at Go for the Gold, joining a couple of hundred swimmers from 10 different teams at Raritan Valley Community College over the weekend. Our 28 attending swimmers validated their early-season training earning Top Places, Gold Times, New Team Records, and some Personal Best Times. Over 700 swimmers from 13 states are converged on SwimRVA in Richmond, VA for the USA Swimming Futures Championships from August 2-5. This was one of four championship meets taking place last weekend across the United States. Futures Championships provides swimmers with a stepping stone between Sectionals and Junior Nationals. Congratulations to our swimmers for qualifying for this season’s long course JOs at Rutgers, and on some great swims there. Jake Riva had a good weekend swimming the 100 Fly and 100 Free, dropping 1.08 and 1.12 respectively off of his best LC times and qualifying for finals in both.
