MAKO Team Travel: What It Means and What to Expect

When we head to an away swim meet, MAKO Aquatics Club is all about keeping things smooth, simple, and team-focused for swimmers and families. Here’s what to expect with meets that are designated as a MAKO team travel meet:

1. All-Inclusive Team Coordination

For each designated team travel meet, MAKO coordinates the logistics once we arrive at our destination city.

We will:

  • Rent cars or vans for team transportation
  • Get swimmers from the airport to the hotel
  • Provide group transportation between the hotel and the meet venue

This keeps the team together and removes transportation headaches for families.

2. Covered Costs for Swimmers

MAKO covers key travel expenses for all swimmers on the team travel roster, including:

  • Gas
  • Lodging
  • Team meals

To help keep trips affordable and fun, swimmers will share hotel rooms (up to four swimmers per room). Rooming together is a great way to build friendships and team spirit.

3. Post-Meet Billing

After the meet, each swimmer’s account will be billed for their share of the total trip cost. This means:

  • No upfront payment at the time of travel
  • A clear breakdown of expenses after the meet
  • Simple, streamlined billing through your MAKO account

4. Commitment and Team Spirit

Team travel is an awesome opportunity for swimmers to grow together — in and out of the pool. These trips help athletes:

  • Build independence and confidence
  • Strengthen friendships
  • Learn how to represent MAKO with pride on the road

We encourage swimmers to fully commit to the team travel experience when they sign up.
