Life Time McKinney at Craig Ranch is an Exclusively Long Course facility. It is home to many motivated athletes. The Ranch is a training focused facility utilizing the pool, backyard, and dryland programs.  

FAQ: 

Are you only Outside?  

Yes, we are an Outdoor only facility however, the pool is heated year-round to 80 degrees and better yet, we NEVER have air quality issues!  

Weather?  

We do have weather plan in place that either, make-up, supplement or relocate to a local Life Time facility.  

Does it stay cool in the summer?  

Yes! We have water cannons that irrigate cool water back into the pool.  

Do you have a to be a member of Life Time?  

Yes, all swimmers must be members. Swimmers older than 14 may have a membership alone.

 

 What do we offer?  

The Ranch offers Stroke School, Developmental team, and 6 USA competitive levels.  

Stroke School- Following the effective Life Time Lesson curriculum, all lessons are focused on Stroke Technique and confidence in the water. Instructors are in water during these lessons. Private lessons available.  

Developmental Team/Summer League- This team is the introductory level to Swim Team. They will begin to work on endurance while perfecting their technique. In the winter months, Meets are held in-house 1 time a month. In the Summer months, meets are held every Saturday in July. Coach is in the water 60% of the time.  

 

Summer Stroke School

 

USA SWIM TEAM

Bronze 1- Ages 5-10 

This is the beginner USA Competitive level. They will work 80% Technique 20% Endurance. Entry Requirements:  

50-Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Backstroke legally 

100 Freestyle with Flip turns 

6x25 Flutter kick on 1:00 

 

Bronze 2- Ages 11-15 

This is the beginner USA Competitive level. They will work 80% Technique 20% Endurance. 

Entry Requirements:  

50-Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Backstroke legally 

100 Freestyle with Flip turns 

6x25 Flutter kick on 1:00 

 

Silver- Ages 8-12 

This is the intermediate Group. Most swimmers will have or be close to USA Swimming “B” times. They will work 70% Technique 30% Endurance. 

Entry requirements  

3x100 Individual Medley legally @3:00 

4x50 Flutter Kick on 1:30 

200 Freestyle under 3:20 

 

Gold – Ages 8-12 

This is the most advanced Age Group Level. Most swimmers have “BB” and above times. They will work 60% Technique 40% Endurance. 

Entry Requirements 

5x100 Individual Medley legally @ 2:30 

6x50 Flutter kick @ 1:15  

400 Freestyle under 8:00 

 

Senior 2 – Ages 13*-18 

This is the first Senior level. Many swimmers have or are close to 13-14 “B” times. They will work 60% Technique 40% Endurance. 

Entry requirements  

3x100 Individual Medley legally @3:00 

4x50 Flutter Kick on 1:20 

200 Freestyle under 3:00 

 

Senior 1- Ages 13*-10 

This is our current highest level. Many swimmers hold A, State or National cuts. They will work 50% Technique 50% Endurance. 

Entry Requirements: 

3x200 Individual Medley @ 3:45 

6x100 Freestyle @ 1:40  

8x50 Flutter Kick @ 1:10

In order for the best training to happen, the groups swim in the morning with a couple afternoon options.

Blue = in Water Training

Coaches:

Elizabeth Hyatt - McKinney Head Coach

Coach Liz is a wife and mom who values family and hard work. She swam competitively for 13 years and has coached for 8. She has worked with all levels of swimmers from developmental athletes to multiple Top 100 NAG swimmers and 1 Top 10 NAG swimmer. She attended Oklahoma Christian, a Division ll University and swam under Olympic Gold Medalist Josh Davis.

She has a passion for teaching as she taught ESL for 3 years during her college career and 1 year as a youth minister. She is consistently developing her swim knowledge by staying an active participant of ASCA as an ambassador. She is currently finishing her Level 3 ASCA Certification.

Coach Liz believes hard work and respect equals an athletes full potential. She is a technique based coach who emphasises technique over speed. You can only go so fast with bad technique before you hit the wall of failure or injury. Speed comes with technical perfection.
