Coach Staffan began her swimming career at the age of 6 in Ohio on a summer league team.  She then adventured at the age of 9 to year round swimming with a YMCA team.  At the age of 13, her family moved to Laredo, Texas where she started with the help of her parents a year round age group team as well as the United High School Swimming Team. 

 

After High School, she received a 4-year swimming scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado, a Division II school.  She lettered all 4 years, was on the NCAA Academic "All American team" for 2 years.  She held many of the long distance school records, 200 Butterfly, 400 IM, 500, 1000 & 1650 freestyle.

 

After college, she coached High School teams in Colorado and Ohio. 

 

She holds a BA in Elementary Education. She is a mother of 6 boys and a Me-maw to 1 granddaughter.  She currently resides in the McKinney area with her husband and 3 sons.  She is a clerk at Reedy High School in Frisco.
