It takes approximately 2400 volunteer hours to run the WTRC Sharks Swim Team Inc. sponsored events and activities and maintain an efficiently run swim team. Our primary fundraising events are home swim meets. To efficiently run these meets, it is essential for all parents to volunteer time.
Parent and family member assistance is crucial to the success of these activities. By participating, you have an opportunity to meet other WTRC Shark families and demonstrate support of your swimmer(s). As outlined in our team handbook and by-laws, participation eligibility on the team is dependent on each family completing their mandatory meet support hours.
Mandatory Meet Support Hours
The WTRC Sharks mandatory meet support hours requirement is an estimated 15-16 hours per family. These hours are worked at swim meets. Upon enrollment families agree to fulfill their estimated 15-16 mandatory meet support hours. As outlined in our team handbook and by-laws, participation eligibility on the team is dependent on each family meeting their mandatory service hours.
We will be using sign in sheets to track hours worked. Families are required to fulfill the hours even if their child does not participate in meets. For families who do not meet their requirements their account will be billed $30 per unmet hour on March 1st. You can check your meet support hours any time through your online account. In addition, post-short course season meets typically require meet support from each participating team. Swimmers attending these postseason and long course competitions will be required to fill meet support shifts for the meets they attend.
