Every effort will be made to keep you in the position you sign up for, however, the Meet Director & Meet Support Coordinator reserve the right to move people to a different position than they signed up for to ensure that the meet runs appropriately and according to Ohio Swimming requirements.

ANNOUNCER - Must be experienced. Please arrive before warm-ups to set-up the microphone and discuss the heat sheet/Shark Attack Heats with the Meet Director.

BACKUP TIMER - Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet. You must attend the timer’s meeting which will be held 30 minutes before the start of the meet. During the meet you will start a stopwatch at the beginning of each race and stop it at the end of every race, in case your watch is needed by another timer.  Please make sure you are watching in case someone needs a watch at the last minute.  Make yourself KNOWN and available at all times on deck.

CLERK OF COURSE - Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.  This team will organize the 8 and Under Swimmers in the Clerk of Course area. They will also help the young swimmers get to the correct lane and stay in order behind the lanes for their events, remind the swimmers of the event they are swimming in, make sure swimmers understand what heat they are swimming in, and help them through the entire process.

CONCESSIONS/HOSPITALITY - Will assist the chairperson with setting up, selling, and stocking/restocking the concession area. Will also help out with hospitality by delivering snacks/water to meet support members or restocking the hospitality area.

CROW’S NEST (training required) - Please arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the meet. The crow’s nest is located above the bleachers. You will be using the Electronic Colorado Timing System and set up the timing system prior to the meet and test/debug. The data board receives data from the starter & touch pads/plungers. Work with the Starter to ensure that the timing system is ready for each race.  Watch the race & make real time adjustments to the data board to enable the race to be timed electronically. Verify a printed copy that each race is correct and adjust/score appropriately.

FACILITIES/CLEAN-UP - During the session, periodically go around & collect trash in the stands, in the commons area and empty trash cans on deck, in the hallway, swim office, hospitality, concessions, and bathrooms. The clean-up team will also re-stock the toilet paper and the paper towels in the restrooms by the Rec. Center Swim Office and clean up the swim meet area after the meet and any other clean up necessary.

FLOATER - Check in with the Meet Support Coordinator to fill any open position at the meet. Must be available during the meet as needed.

MEET SET-UP - This team will be responsible for setting up all of the equipment (tables, chairs, etc.) required to run the meet.

MEET TEAR DOWN - This team will check in with the Meet Director/Meet Support Coordinator for written directions on what needs to be cleaned up at the end of the meet. The volunteer must check in with the Meet Support Coordinator at the end of the job to make sure everything is completed for the clean up session.

POOL MARSHAL - Please arrive prior to warm-ups. Pool Marshals will be assigned to one of the four corners of the pool. The Pool Marshal monitors the pool deck during warm-ups and the swim meet. The Pool Marshal must stay the entire time. There will be 2 marshals at each end of the pool monitoring who is behind the blocks or at the opposite end of the pool. This is for the safety of the swimmers.

RIBBONS - The ribbons will be set-up in the Hospitality Room. Award labels will be placed on the ribbons and then placed in the assigned team bags.

RUNNER - This person will pick up the timer sheets after the last event on the timer's page and take them to the office. They will also post the results on the wall in the rec. center hallway under the results sign as they become available from scoring, and take the results sheets to the announcer on the pool deck.

SIGN-IN - The check-in table is located in the lobby by the pool deck entrance. Sit at the table to help people sign in for their meet support role, get a name tag and then direct them to their assigned positions.

TIMERS - Timers must sign in before the official timer meeting.  The timer meeting is 30 minutes before the start of the meet.  Lanes will be assigned at the timer meeting as well.  Each timer will have a stopwatch and a plunger.  One timer will also record the times on the clipboard. The timer with the clipboard also needs to check and make sure the swimmers are in the correct lane and order. Timers should always ask the swimmer in the lane his/her name.  If there is not a swimmer in your lane for a heat, just mark NS on the clipboard.  Please only write the watch time. 

EQUIPMENT TEAM (training required) -  Arrive 2 hours prior to the start of the meet. The equipment team is responsible for setup and teardown of the timing system and maintaining proper function of the timing equipment throughout WTRC home meets. This includes: scoreboard, starter box, wiring harness, plungers, touchpads, starting block speakers, microphones, cabling and PA system. The team coordinates with the Crows Nest to setup, test and/or debug any equipment throughout the meet. Post meet, the equipment team cleans and carefully stores the equipment to limit wear and maintain functionality.
