OCA National Team memeber Knox Young will attend Williams College in Williamstown, MA in the fall. Knox will be a center piece of the team's effort to improve on its top 10 finish at Division III NCAA Championships this year. Williams will also challenge Knox academically as it is currently the nation's top rated Liberal Arts College. Knox is a quiet leader of OCA's senior program as both a multiple time USA Junior Naitonal qualifier and with his great accomplishment outside of the pool.

Head Coach Alice Godfred is traveling to Vancouver, BC with eight senior and national group swimmers this weekend for the Mel Zajac International/Canada Cup. OCA swimmers Maddie Larkin, Kendra Clinton, Cassie Tallman, Jenny Hou, Sabrina Kwan, Luisa Chan, Sam Petrini, and Knox Young will compete in this Olympic tune up event at the University of Bristish Columbia. 500 swimmers from the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea, and Mexico will compete in preparation to qualify for, and compete at the London Olympics this summer. OCA senior Marine Behr has committed to attend California Polytechnic University in San Luis Bospibo. Marine's outstanding academic accomplishments in her school's International Bacheloreate program gave her many great options to consider, but the top rated technical school on California's beautiful central coast won out. Marine has been a core member of OCA's senior team for three years and her teammates will be closely following her success in the fall.

Kyle Johnson will be joining OCA’s coaching staff on a full time basis. He will be working in many aspects of the team to help build a great foundation from our pre-competetive and instructional programs, to the many levels of competitive swimming OCA has to offer. Damon Perry has committed to attend Seatlle University next year and help their men’s swimming program step up to Division I level. Damon is an outstanding student already attending courses at Seattle University throught the advanced Mateo Richey program, he has also been an outstanding leader for OCA's Senior and National practice groups. The Redhawks are very excited to have Damon commit to their program.

OCA AND MERCERWOOD SHORE CLUB EXTEND PARTNERSHIP TO 2015: Olympic Cascade Aquatics and Mercerwood Shore Club have agreed to extend their pool lease agreement for three years through 2015. This agreement will benefit both organizations and builds upon a great history together. The stability of access to this outstanding facility on Mercer Island and association with a quality organization like Mercerwood Shore Club will be serve as a strong foundation for OCA’s continue growth and success of our athletes and families.

Volunteers from OCA took the bubble down at Mercerwood Shore Club and wrapped it up for the summer. Lots of sunshine and 30+ team members got the work done in record time. Next week the team will training in one of the most beautiful locations in the country with lots of fresh air and a great view of Mount Rainier over Lake Washington.

NUTRITION PRESENTATION: The OCA Foundation is sponsoring a parent focused swimming nutrition presentation by Emily Edison MS Registered Dietician www.mometum4health.com on Monday March 19 from 7-8pm at Mercerwood Shore Club. This talk will focus on the basics of nutrition for meets and how to prepare nutritionally for racing. This presentation will be for PARENTS (you are the biggest influence in this area) and for any swimmer who would like to learn more about good nutrition habits.

The local swimming community lost two coaches, Rob Marshall Hill and Seth Dawson, in a fatal plane crash early Wednesday morning. Rob, Seth, and their friend, Liz Redling were flying in a single engine Cessna 172. Both Rob and Seth have been extremely influential to the sport and along with their involvement with Valley Aquatics Swim Team (VAST), summer league, and high school programs at Decatur & Kentlake. Our condolences to their families and friends.

OCA National Team swimmer Kendra Clinton will attend and swim for Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA next fall. Kendra is a Senior Sectional qualifier and top student in her high school's International Baccalureate program. She joins OCA alum Charlotte Graham who is a Junior at Whitman and she will be a strong contributor to the team's success from her first day on campus. "I'm so happy for Kendra.
