PST This Week - 2/18/24

Volunteering at the NVST Meet (Napa):

We understand that the NVST meet is during a holiday week for some. However, if you registered your swimmer for the meet; then please ensure that they will be attending and you are available to volunteer. If for some reason your swimmer will not be attending, you are still required to volunteer or find a replacement for yourself. Re-read our service hour policy for swim meets to understand why we might have to assign you a job, no matter if your swimmer ends up attending or not.

Congratulations to our Alumnis:

It’s with the greatest pride and happiness to congratulate Ryan Stokes and Paige Arnold for their amazing showing at their first Conference Meets. Ryan (first year) had a fantastic NCAC Championships for Wooster College (D3), dropping huge amounts of times in all of his events. Paige (first year) is slaying her NESCAC Championships meet for Amherst (D3), placing in the top 3 in all of her individual events so far and achieving NCAA B cuts. Depending on the results of all the conference meets this month, she might be invited to compete at NCAAs from March 20-23rd (fingers crossed).

FYI - Simon Lins (first year) made the University of Virginia’s (D1) conference team roster and will be competing at ACC’s this week.

PST Swim School - More Free Lessons Available:

We are offering another round of our free training lessons. This time training instructors will be in water with swimmers while the senior instructors watch from on deck. These are available immediately on our website and will be conducted on 3/2 and 3/3. You are not required to be at both sessions this time.

SafeSport:

USA Swimming is hosting Zoom training for parents and minor athletes (ages 13+). Upcoming dates are listed below. These trainings count towards the requirement for one parent/guardian and all swimmers 13 yrs old and above to complete Safe Sport training each year. This helps to ensure PST retains its status as a Safe Sport Recognized club

Thank you for being part of PST’s shared commitment to providing a safe environment for all participants.

Volunteer Jobs will open on Monday, Feb 19th at 8 p.m. and close at midnight on Wednesday, Feb 21st. All open jobs will be assigned to families on Thursday, Feb 22nd.

*Please note: we will have a Saturday afternoon canopy breakdown job and a Sunday morning canopy set up job as we won’t know until Saturday morning whether we will get a spot inside the fence of the facility to set up our canopies. If we need to set up the canopies outside of the fence, they will need to be broken down completely and stored inside the fence and set up again on Sunday morning. Therefore, if you sign up for one of these jobs, there is a chance the job will be canceled. Tania Blanford will contact the two families who sign up for those jobs to let them know by mid-morning Saturday.

Warm-Up Times swimmers need to arrive early and be ready to warm-up with their groups. Coaches will meet swimmers at the PST canopies at the following times:

Gold & Silver: 7:20am | Platinum: 7:50am | Bronze & Blue: 8:10am

Next Week:

At this time, there are no changes/cancellations to announce.
