Fundraising Volunteers

Fundraising is critical to the team. It funds the season for team bonding events, senior and parent nights, pasta feeds, banquet expenses, team shirts, captain practices, dryland equipment, supplies, pool upgrades, team meets, assistant coaches and more.

The Gertens Flower Fundraiser is our largest fundraiser and how we do there dictates other fundraising events during the season.  It is large and requires a lot of volunteers to make it successful.  Please talk with the boosters if you have additional questions. We are all happy to walk through it.  The different opportunities are listed below:

Gertens Flower Fundraising Volunteers

 

  • Flower Sale Chair
    • Description:
      • This position is typically held by a booster due to the complexity of the project and ease of transition/coordination each season.  However, this position could be a stand-alone position if someone wanted to commit to more than one season.  This involves coordinating with Gertens and working with the committee to head up this fundraiser. 
    • Assignment:
      • This volunteer will coordinate the volunteers for delivery day, track orders, work with Gertens on delivery day, make sure the organization is done for delivery day, and much more.
    • Timeline: 
      • This fundraiser planning starts in July of the current season for execution during the following season, i.e the delivery date for the 2025 season was selected the first Monday after July 4th, 2024.  Prompt date selection ensures that we have our preferred delivery choice the following May.  The sale will run in the off-season, from Feb through late March/early April.  Delivery to be in May around Mother’s Day.  Time commitment is approximately 30-35 hours, which includes the full delivery day. 

 

  • Flower Sale Committee-2-3 people
    • Description: 
      • Two to three people are needed for the flower sale committee. These volunteers work with the Chair to coordinate the fundraiser for the year.  Ideally, we are looking for people who would like to return the following year so that someone always knows what needs to be done.
    • Assignment:
      • Collaborate with the flower sale chair to assist with tracking orders, organize the volunteers and supplies needed for delivery day, send out updates on sale progress, assist on delivery day and more.
    • Timeline:
      • This fundraiser planning starts in July of the current season for execution during the following season, i.e the delivery date for the 2025 season was selected the first Monday after July 4th, 2024.  The time commitment for the committee is approximately 20-25 hours, which includes the full delivery day. 

 

  • Flower Delivery Day Volunteers
    • Description: 
      • The number of volunteers will depend on total flower sales and athlete participation. The team will also be there to assist, as they can. Be available on delivery day to help count and sort plants.
    • Assignment:
      • Attend delivery day. Help count and sort plants. Organize team to ensure all plants are sorted appropriately.
    • Timeline: 
      • Delivery Day is usually around Mother’s Day in May. Time commitment is approximately 6 to 8 hours.
