Coach James is thrilled to be returning to the KRA coaching staff for his fifth season coaching and his second year as the HEAD COACH of the Firefish Swim Team!!! He started swimming for the Firefish when he was 5 years old, and has been swimming year-round since he was 6 years old. James just completed his sophomore year at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA where he swims competitively for the men's swim team. James cannot wait for the 2024 Firefish season to begin!

Coach Smigel is excited to be returning to KRA for her third season! She moved to Richmond from South Carolina several years ago, where she began swimming competitively at the age of 6. She has been giving swim lessons and coaching summer league, high school varsity, and masters swimming since 2008! She is currently the Reading Specialist & Coach at Pinchbeck Elementary, and a former 3rd grade teacher at Tuckahoe ES. Coach Smigel cannot wait to start the 2024 season and have fun with our Firefish swimmers!

Coach Allison is excited to be returning to KRA for her second season on the Firefish coaching staff! She is a rising senior at Freeman High School and has been part of the KRA Firefish swim family for most of her life. She swims competitvely year-round for NOVA, has already signed her intent to swim for UVA when she graduates in 2025, has coached and taught swim lessons for several summers and is excited to share her love of swimming with the KRA Firefish this summer!

Please welcome Coach Claire to the KRA Firefish as both a swimmer and assistant coach for the 2024 season. Claire began swimming as a young child and quickly found her passion for racing. She currently swims year-round for NOVA on the Junior National Team and is finishing her senior year at Freeman High School. Coach Claire can't wait to get to know the Firefish family and pass along her love of swimming!

We are thrilled to have Coach Tanner for her second season coaching and swimming for the KRA Firefish. Tanner's love for swimming began when she first started competitively swimming at the age of 6. She currently swims year-round for SwimRVA and is finishing her junior year at Franklin Military Academy. Coach Tanner is super excited to be returning to the Firefish family and help our swimmers have fun, learn and grow during the 2024 season!

We want to extend a warm welcome to Coach Caroline who is a long-time Firefish swimmer and now a Junior Assistant Coach. Caroline began swimming at the age of 8, currently swims year-round for NOVA, and she is finishing her sophomore year at Maggie Walker Governor's School. Coach Caroline can't wait for an awesome summer!
