MINI-MITES GENERAL INFO
We are very excited to offer our exceptional Mini-Mite program again for the 2025 season serving our youngest FireFish swimmers (8 & under). Swimmers in the Mini-Mites program are members of the FireFish Swim Team, but they just have a shorter practice time and are not required to swim in the meets. However, our hope and goal is to have most Mini-Mites swimming in the last 3 meets of the season. Other teams in the JRAC league offer this amazing program, including those that we compete closely against.
The Mini-Mite program will allow those swimmers with basic freestyle and backstroke skills to build confidence in the water and work on technique to improve these two strokes; for example, the mini-mites will work on endurance and confidence in the water, as well as rotary breathing to one or both sides in freestyle and safe backstroke finishes! They may also begin to learn the breaststroke and the butterfly as the season progresses.
The mini-mites season will begin Monday, June 2 and end on Wednesday, July 9. (The later start time is to allow for the water to warm up for these younger swimmers!)
They will practice four days each week for 30 minutes.
Regular Season practice will be held June 2 - July 9 from 8:00 - 8:30 AM.
Mini-mites may be eligible to swim in the last 3 swim meets of the season on June 23, June 30 and July 7, respectively; they will not be required to attend these meets, but our hope is that they will want to participate with the rest of their KRA team family!
Mini-mites may also be eligible to move into the slotted mite practice during the season, per the head coach's approval.
