Lesson Level Descriptions

Level 1A: 3 - 4.5 years old  (Level 1 Curriculum Video)

Prerequisites: No skills or previous experience necessary.

Summary: In this beginner level, swimmers learn water confidence, how to properly kick, and how &  when to take independent breaths.  They also learn important water safety skills and how to recover if they fall in the pool. 

Skill Objectives: Float on Front and back( minimum 15 seconds), Torpedo glide, Torpedo kicks (min 15 feet), Back Kicks (min 15 feet), and Independently get 4 breaths.

Level 1B: 4.5 - 7+ years old  (Level 1 Curriculum Video)

Prerequisites: No skills or previous experience necessary.

Summary: In this beginner level, swimmers learn water confidence, how to properly kick, and how & when to take independent breaths.  They also learn important water safety skills and how to recover if they fall in the pool.

Level 2: Any Age (Level 2 Curriculum Video)

Prerequisites: All skills in level 1 and swim at least half of the pool width unassisted.

Summary: In the level 2 swim class, kids work up to swimming halfway length way of the pool and back.  Swimmers learn the basics of freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, and dolphin kick.  They also learn how to tread water and how to safely recover if they were to fall into a body of water unexpectedly.

Skill Objectives: Catch-up Freestyle, Elementary Backstroke, Backstroke, Advanced safety swim, and Beginning dolphin kick

Level 3: Any Age (Level 3 Curriculum Video)

Prerequisites: All Skills in level 2 and swim the full width of the pool unassisted.

Summary: In level 3 swim classes, we begin swimming full laps and learn more techniques for freestyle and backstroke.  Swimmers also begin learning the basics of breaststroke, treading water, and underwater swimming. In this level, swimmers will also review how to recover if they fall into a body of water unexpectedly.

Skill Objectives: Freestyle with side breathing, Backstroke with stronger movement, Dolphin kicks, Breaststroke kicks, In-water Somersaults, and the Ready position

Level 4: Any Age  (Level 4 Curriculum Video)

Prerequisites: All Skills learned in level 1, 2, and 3.

Summary: In level 4, swimmers expand upon the skills learned in Level 3. They will perfect side-breathing during freestyle, and begin continuous pool length laps.  They will focus on developing a consistent rhythm for breaststroke and learn the fundamentals of the butterfly stroke.  Swimmers will start treading water for longer periods of time and learn how to complete a proper flip-turn.
