Triangle Pool Rules

General

  1. All persons shall register at the pool entrance upon each visit during general hours. For the privacy of our patrons, locker room doors to the outside of the club will be closed. Please ensure the door closes after entrance.
  2. The pool entrance must be always kept clear. Bikes should be stored behind the building adjacent to the girl’s locker room. No other storage of bikes will be permitted. The owner of the bike is responsible for its security. 
  3. The pool office shall be limited to staff personnel only. Any other use regarding this area must be approved by the manager. 
  4. Do not socialize with the lifeguards on duty in the chair or in the office. 
  5. Members will be responsible for damage to or breakage caused by their children, their guests, or themselves. 
  6. The pool manager or staff are not responsible for lost articles. Articles found shall be turned in to the staff for lost and found claiming. 
  7. Schedule of pool events will be posted on the Pool Calendar in a timely manner and the membership shall be responsible for acquainting themselves with the calendar. 
  8. No smoking. 
  9. No dogs.
  10. The pool management or staff may, at their discretion, evict any person for infraction of the rules from the pool and or pool grounds. 
  11. At all times the lifeguard on duty shall be the senior responsible member of the pool staff during the manager’s absence, and members shall defer to their decisions.
  12. No person shall engage in emotional, physical, or sexual misconduct include but not limited to bullying, hazing, or harassment as specified by the SafeSport Code.
  13. Persons failing to comply with the pool rules are subject to restriction of pool usage. Review by the Board of Trustees may warrant the revoking of membership privileges under the articles of the By-Laws. 

 

Health and Safety 

  1. All Members shall observe the Rules and Regulations of the Washington State Board of Health and King County Department of Public Health.  Any person refusing to obey the Rules and Regulations are subject to removal from the premises. 
  2. Running or rough play on the pool deck is prohibited. 
  3. Diapers must be changed in designated diaper changing areas in the restrooms. 
  4. Persons with communicable diseases or who have been ill with diarrhea or vomiting in the last two weeks will not be allowed in the pool.
  5. All persons shall take a cleansing shower before entering the pool. 
  6. Persons with seizure, heart or circulatory problems are advised to swim with a buddy.
  7. No food, drinks or gum shall be allowed in the swimming pool. 
  8. No glass containers shall be allowed in the pool or on the pool deck. 
  9. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed in the pool.
  10. No person shall enter the pool without a lifeguard present. 
  11. The pool may be closed for health or safety reasons at the discretion of the manager or lifeguards on duty. The manager or lifeguard on duty may also restrict guest privileges in order to prevent overcrowding pool conditions. 
  12. Dunking or rough play in the pool is prohibited. 
  13. No walking on or jumping off the baby pool wall. 
  14. The baby pool is for children 6 and under.  Children must be supervised by their responsible adult at all times while in the baby pool. 

 

Diving, Diving Board and Deep End Use 

  1. Swimmers 12 and under must pass the swim test before using the diving board and deep end.  The swim test for diving board and deep end use is as follows:  Swim the width of the pool and back in a recognizable stroke; Tread water for 1 minute.
    1. At the discretion of the lifeguard or management a child may be required to re-take the swim test at any time. 
    2. U.S. Coast Guard Approved type I, II, or III personal floatation device may aid the swimmer in passing the deep end test.  
      1. If the swimmer requires a floatation aid to pass the test, they must wear that aid while in the deep end and their responsible adult must be actively engaged and in the pool or sitting on the side of the pool while the swimmer is using the deep end.
      2. If the swimmer requires a PFD to pass the swim test, they must take the swim test every pool visit.
  2. Diving is only allowed in the deep end of the pool.  Absolutely NO diving in the shallow end. 
  3. No diving from the swim blocks during open swim.  
    1. Members of the Tigershark Swim Team may request specific time-limited permission from the guard on duty to practice diving from blocks in lane 1 when the deep end is empty.  Approval is at the discretion of the guard on duty.
  4. The following rules outlined by King County Department of Public Health must also be observed:
    1. Only one person at a time is permitted on the diving board and ladder. 
    2. Each person must wait until the preceding diver has cleared the area before diving.
    3. Only one bounce is permitted on the diving board. 
    4. Front dives and flips are allowed straight off the end of the board.
    5. Cartwheels and handstands are prohibited.
    6. Running dives are not allowed. 
    7. Hanging off the end of the diving board is not permitted.
    8. Jumping into the arms of another swimmer is not permitted.
    9. After jumping off the diving board, swimmers shall swim directly to the nearest ladder and leave the diving area. 
    10. Swimming under the diving board is prohibited. 
    11. Playing or swimming in the diving area is not permitted while board is open for diving. 
    12. Goggles, masks or floatation devices may not be worn while diving 
    13. Adjustments of the diving board fulcrum may only be made by the aquatic staff. 
    14. Pool management may restrict certain dives based on safety concerns. 

 

Floatation Devices

Flotation devices (inflatable mattresses, floatation aids, and play-toys) are allowed under the following conditions: 

  1. Tubes, mattresses, fun noodles, etc. are only allowed in the shallow end of the pool at the discretion of the guard on duty.  
  2. Flotation devices will be disallowed if the number of swimmers in the pool exceeds 25 or at the discretion of the guard(s) on duty. 
  3. Standing on, diving off, or engaging in rough play with floatation devices is prohibited. 
  4. Rings, water wings, etc. are allowed in the shallow end of the pool for non-swimmers, but child must be accompanied by an adult or qualified swimmer at all times. 
  5. Kickboards are to be used only by lap swimmers, swim team and swim lessons. 
  6. The American Red Cross recommends that snorkel and mask cannot be used together. A snorkel may be used with goggles. 

 

Children 

  1. It is the responsibility of the adult member to supervise all children in their care. 
  2. Children 3 and under must wear Little Swimmer type swim diapers.
    1. Contamination causes a critically serious health risk to pool patrons and requires pool closure and excessive measures to correct.  Negligence as determined by pool management may result in a fine equivalent to the cost to correct.  It may also result in restriction from pool use. 
  3. All non-swimmers must be accompanied by an adult member who is responsible for their safety at all times. 
  4. All non-swimmers must stay where they can comfortably stand with their head above water. 
  5. Children 10 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult regardless of ability while at the pool.
  6. Children 11-13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult unless the child has passed a specific swim test as follows (note that this is separate from the Deep End use test): 
    1. Swim 50 yards freestyle or recognized stroke 
    2. Tread water for 2 minutes 
    3. Have parental and pool management signed approval by filling out the Parental Consent Form.
  7. At the discretion of the lifeguard or management a child may be required to re-take any swim test at any time. 

 

Guests

  1. All guests must be always accompanied by a Triangle Pool member. 
  2. An individual may only be a guest a maximum of two (2) times, regardless if invited/sponsored by different members on different occasions.
  3. All guests must pay the $5.00 guest fee upon entrance. 
  4. Guests must complete the guest application and waiver of liability. A guest under the age of 18 must have these forms signed by a parent and must include a signed medical release PRIOR to admittance to the pool. These forms are available on the website. 
  5. Abuse of the guest privileges may result in restriction of pool use of the guest(s) and/or sponsoring member. 
  6. Any member requiring special guest privileges is required to obtain approval from the pool manager and/or the board president PRIOR to requested use. 

 

Babysitters & Nannies

  1. A Fulltime Nanny shall be a part of the Family Membership.  They are only allowed to utilize the pool during their work hours and while they are accompanying the children of the Family Membership. 
  2. A Babysitter is permitted to bring children of a family membership to the pool free of charge.  Babysitters must complete a guest application, waiver and medical release. These forms must be signed by the babysitter’s parent if the babysitter is under the age of 18. The babysitter may only use the pool with the children of the family membership during their work hours.
  3. Any non-member children in the babysitter’s care must pay a guest fee and complete the guest application, waiver and medical release, and have that form signed by their parents. 
  4. Abuse of this privilege may result in restriction of pool use.
