Members of CST's Senior and Age Group 1 groups attended their first open water practice of the year at Divi Little Bay Beach. The session was a tough one, but Brandon, Joey, Arianna, Gigi, Louise, and Simon made their way nicely!

Carib Swim Team's annual raffle fundraiser exceeded their $2,000 goal, brining in $2,048. The money this year is pinpointed toward purchasing equipment to grow open water competitions in Sint Maarten. Several swimmers sold all 50 of their tickets, including Gigi Cai, Natalia Mullet, Abhiram Lulla, Jaylyn Martiens, Sacha Tobias, Yuyu Cai, Arianna Lont, Charlotte Challenger, and Denecia Prince. Joey finished his competitive year at the 2nd French Youth Championships in Rennes, France, and performed very admirably. He went 7-for-7 best times, with two new 'AAA' times. He is still at the bottom of his age group, so this qualifies him for CCCAN next year. The meet brings together the top swimmers from France, as well as Martinique, Saint Martin, Tahiti, Réunion island, Corsica and Guyane. Over 700 swimmers competed. Taffi and Abbi Illis just finished their meet in Abu Dhabi with incredible results. Abbi swam her fastest time ever in 100 free, finishing in 1:14.97. Taffi swam 50 fly in her best time of 31.99, as well as 50 free in 29.11. Both of Taffi's swims were new 18/over team records! Way to represent CST and Sint Maarten Swimming ladies!

Carib Swim Team celebrated the Holidays on Friday with a special fun practice that included all groups. There were special games and relays, pizza and cake, and much more. The evening concluded with the drawing of prizes for our annual raffle fundraiser, with Yuyu winning just about everything. A full list of donors and prize winners will be released soon!

Carib Swim Team assistant coach and head instructor was recently certified Level 3 by the American Swimming Coaches Association. This certification reflects Eline's ongoing academic training specific to swimming, and the in-pool success of her swimmers, as well as her level of experience. Congratulations Eline! Carib Swim Team’s annual Holiday Bash meet was held on Sunday 12th December, and was the first meet in several months attended by all three teams in Sint Maarten. As the last meet of the year (for most swimmers), it was the last chance for CST swimmers to break team records for their current age… and five swimmers came through big time! In the first full team travel meet since the COVID Pandemic began, Carib Swim Team brought home 42 medals, and many other top eight finishes. Thirteen swimmers from CST traveled to Curacao for the Siegfried Francisco Invitational Swim Meet from December 3 - 5, to compete against teams from Aruba, Bonaire, Panama, and of course Curacao. Taffi Illis and sister Abbi Illis are traveling to Dubai for the FINA World Championships. This is Taffi's second world champs in a row. Taffi's quote from FaceBook: "Ready for Round 2!
