A small but mighty contingent of four swimmers from St. Martin earned it’s highest score ever with 76 points, and produced the island’s first medals, at the 2022 CARIFTA Games in Barbados on April 16 – 20. As the smallest team at the meet, and with no relays, Saint Martin still managed 13th place of 18 teams. This is the highest place ever for the team. Joey Schvartz (12 years) was a highlight, as he earned four gold medals (200 free, 400 free, 200 IM, and 400 IM), and a...

37 swimmers passed for their diploma exam yesterday. Well done everybody! A special congrats to Eden André, Phillip Chang Sing Pang, Mathys Fleming and Aditi Ramchandani for receiving their last diploma. The first two collages are from Eden en Phillip, who are with us for a while! Dedication from both kids and parents have made them the great swimmers they are today! Keep up the good work everybody!
Carib Swim Team took part in the Les Abymes Regional Meeting 2 on March 5-6, and even though they came in as a small team of 13 swimmers, they proved small but mighty, bringing home 37 medals. The swim meet acted as the last chance qualifier for the CARIFTA games, and although there were no new qualifiers, the children swam very well, with 65 best times of 82 attempts. Simon Creusot, 11 years, (6 – 11 years), had an amazing meet with five 1st place finishes (50 breast, 50 back,...
Carib Swim Team, along with long-time sponsor Ballerina Jewelers, hosted the annual Sweetheart Class Swim Meet on February 12-13. Although it was the first meet of the new year for most of the swimmers, most swimmers came away with great starting places for the rest of the year. Nine new Carib Swim Team records were set. Nikki Grandtner (14 years) broke the record in 100 backstroke with 1:17.30. Joey Schvartz (12 years) managed three new records (200 backstroke – 2:35.33, 200 butterfly – 2:41.94, and 200 IM – 2:31.54). Finally,...
Carib Swim Team enjoyed a last-minute surprise visit by Dutch Olympic gold medalists Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Ferry Weertman on Thursday afternoon. Both Ranomi and Ferry recently announced their retirement from competitive swimming, and were vacationing in Sint Maarten. They were nice enough, on their last afternoon on the island, to come to the Carib Swim Team pool and share their experiences with young swimmers. They told stories, answered questions, took pictures with the young athletes, and signed autographs. They are engaged to be married, and are truly one of competitive...
Carib Swim Team ran a fun relay meet, replacing the postponed school meets. It was an intra-squad afair, featuring unusual relays such as a corkscrew relay, a 'last minute' medley relay, an IM relay, and more. Many of the relays were multi-age-group, allowing the younger swimmers to compete with the older swimmers. It was a quick but fun event! We would like to thank the parents who helped with timing and other duties.

Carib Swim Team wishes to thank Marine Management and Consulting N.V. for a very nice donation, on top of sponsoring a sign! Carib Swim Team, being a non-profit group, depends on the generosity of outside businesses and individuals in order to continue to do what we do. Thanks to Jeff, Ton, and everybody else involved!
Thanks to Conan Barge, the teaching platform has been fixed and upgraded! This has been a long time coming, and was a big goal for CST this last year. It was the main focus of our 2021 Swim-4-Fun(ds). It took a little longer than we had wanted, but we are ready to resume our lessons. Again thank you to Conan Barge, who handled the removal, repair, and installation. Also thank you to Coach Eline, who took point for us on the repair.
