Coach Eline was once again the women's champion at the TriSport Aquathlon. She competed in the 1K swim / 10K run event. Way to go Eline!

Carib Swim Team used the sprint opportunities that the second annual Fall Pentathlon provided to their advantage, with tons of best times, new time standards, and a few new team records! The pentathlon format works a bit different than most meets, in that instead of awarding each event, all five events are added together. The swimmer with the fastest cumulative time wins the award. This year's LAB Sports Harbor to Pier Open Water Challenge was, unfortunately, poorly attended. Still, Carib Swim Team members did us proud, taking home all four trophies. In the long swim, Matias Piazza repeated his win. Arianna Lont finished second, and was the first woman out of the water. For the short swim, Nico Piazza won, a short distance ahead of Gigi Cai, who finished second (and was the first female finisher). A quartet of French registered swimmers headed to Martinique this last weekend to participate in the NML competition. The results were highlighted by Joey Schvartz, who achieved three more qualifying times for the upcoming French Nationals (December 18 - 22 in Rennes). He added 50 breast, 100 breast, and 100 back to his already achieved 200 IM and 400 free. Joey is the first swimmer ever from St. Martin to qualify for French National Championships. Carib Swim Team swimmers enjoyed a fun night of food and games at Pineapple Pete restaurant on Friday night. Pineapple Pete once again provided our seasonal t-shirts, and as a show of thanks we gathered en masse. Fun was had by all! Thank you once again to Pierre and his gang at Pineapple Pete!

Three swimmers from CST traveled to Curacao for the second annual Sithoc Open Water competition. Matias Piazza was the fastest 3K perfomer (46:00.8), finishing almost six minutes in front of the second place swimmer. Joey Schvartz won the 1K competition (15:38.2), with Nicolas Piazza finishing in second place overall (17:05.0). Unfortunately a rain/thunder storm on Saturday took some of the fun away, but the boys had a warm-up on the beach on Friday, and a good workout in a 50M pool on Saturday morning, before Sunday morning's competition. Six swimmers combined for ten new Carib Swim Team records during this last weekend's meet, sponsored by Guardian Group. Beside the new records, many new time standards were achieved, and huge time drops were enjoyed by many swimmers. Super Splash Swim Team joined CST for the competition, adding fun to the competition. Adaya Bourne (13 years) led the way, with three new team records: 1500 free (21.22.07), 200 fly (3:30.52), and 800 free (10:57.24). Carib Swim Team enjoyed it's second open water swim on Saturday. In preparation of the Curacao open water competition later in October, the focus was on longer swims and spotting (learning how to stay on course).

In Sunday's third annual Red/Blue Intrasquad Meet, the Red Team jumped out to a quick lead after the first round of events (freestyle), and despite a comeback in the final round (butterfly) by the Blue Team, Red held on to the lead, winning 163 - 148. Highlighting the meet was a new team record by Joey Schvartz in 11 year old 50 back with a time of 35.54. This was a new 'A' time, as were his 50 free and 50 breast.
