Stamford Lions travelled to dual it out with the Huskies at the Canadian International School. Making full use of the parent-teacher conference days on Wednesday and Thursday in March, the Swim Academy staff were able to be present at the swim meet, of course within their bubbles. There had been much emotional energy invested into making the swim meet happen. With many safe management protocols to observe and rule to follow it was exhausting for the coaching staff. For some athletes it was an overwhelming experience. First time competing for...
Along with our new flags a few months ago we have added some 'wall art' to our Stamford Poolside! The artwork is one of the few places that our athletic values are displayed and a constant reminder to coaches and student-athletes of the importance of those values. The Lion ROAR values underpin our program and a student-athlete who demonstrates them shows: Resilience - demonstrates the desire to cope with any situation during training and games, has a willingness and ability to overcome obstacles, and doesn't give up easily. Outstanding Character...

After many late nights of planning from the coaching staff, countless cups of coffee, seemingly endless phone calls and emails the Stamford Lions Swim Academy arrived this morning at OCBC aquatics centre to compete at a competition organised by Singapore Swimming. Following on from the Olympic Qualifier last week, this was now a further opportunity for others to race. Day 1 Diary The first day was dominated by 100m backstroke events. found Elf on the Shelf drinking out of my waterbottle this morning, seems she is out of quarantine! After a brief chat about her thoughts in quarantine, Elf really began to open up about what she had learned by being on the Coaches’ shelf amongst the rest of the books. “Did you know that the human body consists of nearly 60 per cent water, our brain tissue is said to consist of about 85 per cent water!” said Elf. “Wow!" said the coaches almost amazed that she could talk (but...
Niels did Stamford proud at Singapore’s first swim meet under COVID restrictions, also a qualifying meet for Olympic Games. He touched in 26.25 for the first 50m and came back in 27.56 to finish in a time of 53.81, just 0.3 outside the previous school record. Whilst there are still recognisable improvements that would see him dip under his lifetime PB, both the coaching team and Niels himself are happy with the result... for now. “We have always said that you can’t be be out too fast but you can...
