Summer swim team practice will begin on Monday, Apr. 23rd. New swimmers should come at 3:45pm. We hope to see many NEW faces and RETURNING faces for a summer of fun! Returning swimmers come at your regular practice times. If you are unsure as to what time to practice, please contact Coach Pam.

Congratulations to Elisabeth Anne Orr, Thomas Orr and Virginia Summer for swimming very well at the YMCA Short Course Nationals held Apr. 2-5th in Greensboro, NC. They swam well and represented Newberry that would make everyone proud! We enjoyed a night out with the swimmers from the YCSC (Columbia YMCA) and RAYS (Rock Hill) for a fun dinner! Congratulations to all our of team members who qualified and swam at the Upper Southesat Regional Short Course Championship this past weekend! Not only did we have very good swims but our swimmers always showed good sportsmanship. We had three swimmers who made Regions as 8 & 9 year olds which is very difficult to do. All our our swimmers in the morning session, Kaitlin Kunkle, Zachary Laprise, Elisabeth Anne Orr, Thomas Orr and Virginia Summer all made it back for finals tonight! In Finals Elisabeth Anne had a best time in 100 breast and came in 7th in the region, while Kaitlin Kunkle swam a 1:07.58 and placed 2nd in the Region! Virginia swam in the 100 back and 200 back this past weekend at the Speedo Series Southern Zone Eastern Senior Sectionals which was a long course meet because of the Olympics this summer. She competed against some of the fastest swimmers in the Southeast and came away with best times! She swam among many Olympic time trial qualifiers, one of which was Cullen Jones. She represented our YMCA very well at this prestigious meet.

Coach Khristia said our Eight and under swimmers did an excelllent job at the South Carolina 8 & under Championship this past weekend in Greenville! All of our swimmers had best times and some of our team records were broken! Congratulations to our newest IM tough swimmer, Austin Gardner!
