LSAC Championship Swim Meet Results: A Bold Display of Dominance and Determination

Over the past two weeks, LSAC athletes plunged headfirst into self-confrontation, never looking back. They gathered speed, raced to the wall, and refused to accept limitations. Each race was a testament to their mental fortitude, pushing boundaries while avoiding the comfort of easy actions.

At the Championship meets, each athlete courageously pushed beyond their perceived limits, revealing their true character. Once they tasted domination, it consumed them. Small sparks turned into roaring flames as they rejected self-imposed limitations and let no one hold them back.

Seniors Layla Santor and Ella Bingham: Breaking Records in Their Last Dance

Layla Santor and Ella Bingham ended their high school swim careers with a bang, leaving everything in the pool. Layla shattered the 100 breast record by over 2 seconds and earned a Sectional cut in the 200 breast and the 50 free, heavily contributing to several second-place finishes in the relays.

Ella, leaving nothing behind, obliterated the 100 and 200 backstroke team records, earning medals and leading relays to victory. Her standout performance was in the 100 fly, where she already held the team record. At the halfway point, she was in 6th place, but her years of honing underwater speed propelled her to the front. With 10 yards to go, she was untouchable, wrapping up her final race with a gold medal.

Rising Stars and Impressive Performances

Antje Weber: Antje Weber is no stranger to swimming fast. Having already established herself as one LSAC's strongest dolphin kickers, Antje debuted a new stroke in the 100 free, smashing her best time and moving up 19 spots. Look to see Antje making moves in the fall!

Savina Smith: Got to watch out for the bounce back! Despite battling pneumonia after returning from Michigan swim camp, Savina hit her stride on the final day, achieving personal bests in the 200 breast and 50 free, and breaking records in the relays.

Savanna Guidry answered her team's call on the last day, leading her relay with her first-ever Sectionals cut in the 50 free. Savanna has been making drops all year while narrowing missing this cut. Her dedication throughout the year paid off, helping break the 200 free relay record.

Gabi Staggs - Relentless Pursuit: Gabi Staggs' relentless pursuit of perfection shone through at the STAGS meet. Treating every race as her own challenge, she achieved personal bests, even breaking her finger in the 50 free finish.

Mathew Morales - Man on a Mission: Mathew dominated the sprint events, clocking a 58 in the 100 free and a low 26 in the 50 free. This rapidly improving sophomore, now focusing solely on swimming and cross country, is one to watch.

First-Time Charms

Sofia Ortiz and Scarlett Lewis: Rookies Sofia and Scarlett had a stellar debut at the STAGS meet. Sofia made finals in the 100 breast and continued to excel, scoring 12 points.

Scarlett, fresh off an impressive STX Champs, consistently improved in every race and did an amazing job representing our stellar 10 and under group while at STAGS.

Grit and Determination

Travis "Mile Man" Tellez: Travis isn’t afraid of anything. Quit isn’t in his vocabulary. Despite a week off, he placed 5th in the mile, exemplifying toughness.

Jillian Sierra-Notarianni: The athlete with the biggest smile is often the scariest competitor. Jillian is ruthless and loves to race. Her standout performance at TAGS was in the 50 back, where she smashed her best time and moved up 8 spots.

We are greatly looking forward to seeing Jillian's leadership unfold next season as she is already qualifed for TAGS again!

Dynamic Duo: 10-and-under boys Martin Herceg and Liam Madsen made their marks at STAGS and TAGS. Martin racked up TAGS cuts, with a standout performance in the 200 free finals, dropping 10 seconds to earn his TAGS cut. Liam wrapped up his LSAC career with stellar performances in the 50 fly and 100 back at TAGS, making massive time drops before moving to Oregon.

Katya Kristo-Reinking - Sprint Queen: Katya dominated the 50 free at Sectionals and TAGS, securing her place as the 2nd fastest 13-and-under 50 freestyler in Texas, while lowering her own 13-14 record for our team. Next year should be interesting as she is almost a second off the State record.

Katya will join Jillian next season at TAGS both girls look to raly in some points for LSAC!

The essence of these performances lies in controlling what you can control. Treat competition as a process that gradually builds the capacity to address what you can't control. Start with your body or your desire, and slowly you'll realize how little influence the world has over you.

Lean on your teammates for support. Small things add up, creating a significant change. By controlling yourself and lifting each other up, you can reclaim control of your destiny. The future favors the bold. The future is Lone Star.
