Parents must understand that no two kids are the same. All kids respond, react and develop differently. Comparison is the thievery of joy.  Never compare your kid to another under any circumstance.

Instead let the coach do their job and give your kid their independence. This will allow them to develop self-management skills and allow them to prepare for life.

Parent Expectations:

  1. All parents will engage in positive fan behavior. This includes volunteering to time at meets and serving on the board.
  2. Parents must never interfere with training sessions. This creates a liability issue with our team and USA swimming.
  3. Parents will do their best to keep patio clear for swimmers to come and go.
  4. Let coaches’ coach
  5. Let officials officiate the meet
  6. Never compare your athlete to another.
  7. Coaches and athletes set performance goals, when appropriate needed. NEVER SET PERFORMANCE GOALS WITH YOUR SWIMMER.
  8. Be a fan, not a FANATIC
  9. What happens on the pool deck, stays on the pool deck.

CODE OF CONDUCT: PARENTS

The purpose of a code of conduct for parents is to establish consistent expectations for behavior by parents.  As a parent/guardian, I understand the important growth and developmental support that my child’s participation fosters.  I also understand that it is essential to provide the coaching staff with respect and the authority to coach the team.  I agree with the following statements:

I will set the right example for our children by demonstrating sportsmanship and showing respect and common courtesy at all times to the team members, coaches, competitors, officials, parents, and all facilities.

I will get involved by volunteering, observing practices, cheering at meets, and talking with my child and their coach about their progress.

I will refrain from coaching my child from the stands during practices or meets.

I understand that criticizing, name-calling, use of abusive language or gestures directed toward coaches, officials, volunteers, and/or any participating swimmer will not be tolerated.

I will respect the integrity of the officials.

I will direct my concerns to first to Coach Adam; then, if not satisfied, to the Board of Directors.

I understand the above expectations and that my failure to adhere to them may result in disciplinary action including dismissal from the team.
