Coaches and Directors
Coach Gabe is a Round Rock native and student to the sport of swimming since before he was walking. He first handedly understands the sacrifice and process it takes to become a collegiate level swimmer and excel beyond the pool.
Starting club swimming at the age of 10 Gabe participated in a trio of clubs around the greater Austin area until he found his final home at LSAC. Following the leadership set by his siblings, and the success of older LSAC members he too became a leader as a High School swim team captain, team MVP, and Sectional finalist on numerous occasions. These sacrifices led him to a scholarship for the Division 1 swim program at Seattle University.
From 2012-2016 he swam at Seattle University while receiving a bachelors in Environmental Science. During his sophomore season he received the Coaches Award for his commitment to hard work and going above and beyond in and out of the pool. This commitment led him to U.S. Open Qualifying Cuts in the 100 & 200 breaststroke as well as numerous top 5 times in school history.
Gabe credits the success in his career to always emphasizing passion before performance. By providing engaging sets, unique drills, positive mindset and creative ways to problem solve he strives to generate a similar passion he had with the sport which can fuel an entire career. His philospophy is rooted in the opportunistic idea that no one should ever feel like they “have” to go to practice but rather they “get” to go.
He’s also an avid believer in training balance and coordination a.k.a stability. During his career he excelled in riding the unicycle, yoga, and indo boarding. Learning swimming is learning how to control your body in an unstable environment. Balance equals control and control leads to opportunity.
