In December of 2008 MCAT SVA received a few very generous donations from it’s member families. Jim Hashimoto donated 1,000.00 to the team. Senior MCAT Swimmer swam well enough in prelims on Saturday , December 12 and Sunday , December 13, 2008 to make Consolation Finals in the 100 free and Bonus Finals in the 50 Free. In the frigid climate ,Grant was able to swim a Personal Best Time in the 50 free in going 22.67. Grant also swam a season best in the 100 free going under 50.00. This is a tough meet to make finals. Monterey County Aquatic Team/Salinas Valley Aquatics member Toby Macabugao (11) of Salinas competed in 3 events the Pacific Swimming Junior Olypmics in Pacifica on Saturday December 6,2008. He placed 6th in the (11-12)50 Breast Stoke with a Pacific Recordable Time going 33.24, 14th in the 100IM and 7th in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:31.70. This was a huge accomplishment, since Toby is 11 and swimming to finals on his off year. Congratulations on your Finals finishes and receiving JO medals.

Rebecca Castagnetto was appointed to the position of MCAT Board Secretary at the October Board meeting by President Jim Hashimoto. This appointment was approved by consent of the entire Board. I have truly enjoyed my trip to Beijing. Words cannot describe the feeling of being there. We had so many great experiences. It was like a dream come true..
