92Y Flying Dolphins had 4 swimmers represent the Metropolitan All-Star Zone Team last week in Virginia at the Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championships. The Zone team consisted of the top Metro swimmers in the 11-12, 13-14, & 15-18 Age Groups. 3 YFD swimmers headed up to Florida for the 2013 Long Course Southern Senior Zone Championships. The outdoor senior meet provided our athletes with a great opportunity to race new competition and compete against some of the nation’s best swimmers. The week at the youth's Maccabi Games in California was incredible. It was a true honor to be a part of an experience where over 2,400 athletes in all sports, representing countries from all over the world, came together to compete and culturally bond. Our two YFD swimmers dominated the competition, taking home 19 medals! Sophie Halper placed first in 10 events, bringing home gold medals for each of her swims and achieving best times. 8 YFD athletes competed at the 2013 LC Metro Junior Olympic Championships this past weekend at the Nassau Aquatic Center. Congratulations to: Ella Green, Charlotte Feigin, Abby Damsky, Jessica Lipton, Arnelle Allen, Alec Kahn, Devon French and Gavin Green. New Zone Cut: Charlotte Feigin splashed a 37.07 in the 50 meter Fly to earn a spot on the Metropolitan All Star Zone Team. Great Job!

Four of our Senior group athletes traveled to Lehman College in the Bronx to compete in the 2013 Long Course Metropolitan Senior Mets Championships last weekend. Our swimmers raced well and had some amazing swims. Some of the highlights: Jessica Lipton led the group with 3 best times and earned her first ever B final swim in the 200 meter Fly with an All Star Zone team cut in the 15-18 age group. Jessica also broke the 1:10 barrier in the 100 meter fly with an impressive time of 1:09.35....

Last week, members of each group on our team competed in a relay team carnival. It was a great opportunity for our younger swimmers to team up with our older swimmers for the chance to learn and compete with them. It was a fun meet with emphasis on teamwork. Our swimmers got to bond with each other and celebrate a successful season. Outstanding Meet, Flying Dolphins! We had three long, hot days at the outdoor Wilton Meet last weekend. Each day, we had the opportunity to see some awesome swimmers!
