DEVELOPMENTAL                                                                 

This group is an entry level group designed to give new swimmers (10 & under) the experience of a competitive club but in a less competitive setting.  The focus is on body position and awareness in freestyle and backstroke. More advanced concepts will be introduced throughout the session including basic work on starts, turns, and finishes.​ This group is offered in a 5 month session starting in October & ending in March. 

  • Practices: Typically, two (2) practices are offered each week.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swim meets are optional for this group.
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers should be able to complete 25 yards without assistance.

AGE GROUP 1

This year-round group is focused on new swimmers (ages 12 & under) who exceed the requirements of the AG Beginner Group and wish to make the jump into a fully competitive training group. Stroke development will be stressed along with work on starts, turns, and proper practice habits. Endurance training will be introduced at this level as well.

  • Practices: Three (3) practices are offered each week.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are expected to compete in at least two (2) meets per season.  
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers in this group should be working towards or achieved an IMR score for their specific age group.

AGE GROUP 2

This year-round competitive training group generally includes swimmers 12 & under.  Stroke technique will be emphasized at this level, with training techniques and endurance training introduced at this level.  Swimmers will expand their interest in competition and training at this level.

  • Practices: Three (3) practices are offered each week.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are expected to compete in at least two (2) meets per season. 
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers in this group should have achieved an IMR score for their specific age group.

AGE GROUP 3

This year-round competitive training group generally includes swimmers ages 8-13.  Competitive stroke technique and an understanding of basic training skills will be emphasized in this group.  Also, swimmers will develop a better understanding of swimming competitions including legal strokes, starts, and turns.

  • Practices: Four (4) practices are offered each week plus two (2) dryland sessions.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are expected to compete in at least three (3) meets per season, or around one (1) meet per month. 
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers in this group should have achieved an IMR score and be working towards or achieved an IMX score for their specific age group.

AGE GROUP 4

This year-round competitive training group generally includes swimmers ages 10-14.  An equal balance is maintained between improving stroke technique & training skills.  Swimmers will begin to refine competitive racing strategies, basic goal setting, and accountability in the water. 

  • Practices: Five (5) practices are offered each week plus two (2) dryland sessions.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are expected to compete monthly in meets including all championship meets.
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers should have achieved both an IMR & IMX score for their specific age group and also competed in the 1000 yard Freestyle event.

JUNIOR GROUP

This year-round competitive training group is primarily for swimmers ages 12-14 who exceed the requirements of Age Group 4 but are not yet in High School. Continued stroke refinement along with increased endurance training will be stressed in this group. Racing strategies, goal setting, and accountability in the water will also serve an important role throughout the season. Swimmers in this group will be asked to commit to training at a high level. At this age, it is important to maintain a consistent work ethic at practice to ensure future success in the pool. 

  • Practices: Six (6) practices are offered each week plus two (2) dryland sessions.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are expected to compete monthly in meets including all championship meets.
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers should have achieved both an IMR & IMX score for their specific age group and also competed in the 1000/1650 yard Freestyle events.

SENIOR GROUP

This year-round competitive training group is primarily for High School age swimmers (ages 14-18) who have committed to swimming as their primary, year-round sport. Stroke refinement and endurance training are key elements of this group. Racing strategies, goal setting, and accountability in the water will continue to be stressed. Swimmers in this group should lead by example and be committed to being the best possible swimmer they can be. 

  • Practices: Seven (7) to Eight (8) practices per week plus three (3) dryland sessions; swimmers are expected to fully commit to the training requirements of this group.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: In addition to High School meets, swimmers in this group are expected to compete in several skill appropriate meets/championship meets per season.
  • Performance Criteria: Swimmers should have achieved both an IMR & IMX score for their specific age group and competed in the 1000/1650 Freestyle events.

VARSITY GROUP

This group is open to non CV/USC swimmers that are required to swim with their High School team during High School Season. In addition, any CV High School Swimmer can remain with this group. 

  • Practices: Outside of High School Season (mid-November through early March) swimmers in this group will train with the Senior Group. During the High School Season, swimmers in this group will train with their High School Team.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers in this group are expected to compete in several skill appropriate meets/championship meets per season. During the High School Season, swimmers in this group can still compete with PEAQ at AMS/USA Swimming Meets.
  • Performance Criteria: Same as the "Senior Group".

NATIONAL GROUP

This is our highest-level training group. While all of our Senior-level swimmers demonstrate great commitment to the sport, our National Group swimmers have chosen swimming to be their exclusive activity outside the classroom. These swimmers pursue their swimming goals with a single-minded focus to be the best competitive swimmer they can be.

  • Group Expectations: For swimmers 13 & Over who wish to participate in Sectional, National and potentially International competitions with a strong emphasis on USA Swimming Junior Nationals and Nationals.
  • Swim Meet Expectations: Swimmers are required to attend the highest level Championship meet for which they qualify. Swimmers will also have the opportunity to attend regional and national "travel meets" in order to gain exposure to better competition.
  • Performance Criteria: Membership in this group requires Sectionals cuts and/or the recommendation of the coaching staff; swimmers need to be prepared to handle longer and more intense training sessions. Swimmers will maintain 90% practice attendance to remain in the group.

HS PRE-SEASON

This program will be offered to High School Swimmers that are NOT a member of a USA Swimming Club.  This program will be a six-week pre-season conditioning program geared towards getting swimmers ready for the High School season. The program will run 6 weeks in October through mid-November.
