Congratulations to Coach Doug and his wife, Kara, who on Saturday April 3rd at 7:04am were proud to announce the birth of their second daughter weighing in at 8lbs 6 oz, Audrey Lucy Ann Thompson!!  Congratulations to the Thompson family!!

This Saturday ( April 3rd ) CBC will be airing LIVE from 2-3pm the finals of the Pan Pacific Trials that are taking place in Montreal.  Winners of each event will automatically get selected to be a part of Canada's team that will compete this August at the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California. It will also serve as the qualifier for other summer international competitions. The Pan Pacific Championships take place every four years and in 2006 was in Victoria.  The Pan Pacific charter nations include Canada, USA, Australia...

On March 13 & 14, the Richmond Rapids competed at the Lower Mainland Championships held in Tsawwassen. The Rapids took as large contingent of swimmers from their Age Group & Regional Development programs .  The swimmers competed against a number of teams from across the lower mainland and won the competition by over 1000 points over the second place team.    Leading the way for the Rapids with some very strong performances were 13 year olds Brian Leung & Ali Abbasi, 11 year old Melissa Quon, 10 year old Kevin...

The rapids 13-14 boys finished off the second night of finals by crushing the existing provincial record in the 4x50 IM relay. After a short flight to Saskatoon the rapids crew sits down to a late lunch. later in the day we'll head to the pool for a light training session (4000m or so) and then back to the hotel to catch some Olympic highlights and get to bed early.  

  Torch relay Update: Walter Wu (Rapids Alumni) will be carrying the Olympic Flame from River Rd at the Olympic Oval Sign to: 180-5200 Hollybridge Way at approximately 7:06 pm. Day 3 at AA's was a great success with Tony Ma and Serena Xue qualiying for AAA's and both winning gild in the 12 & under 200 BR! Serena dominated from start to finish to finish with a time of 3:05. Tony Ma was a stud and won from lane 1 improving 9 seconds for his first ever AAA! Also medaling this afternoon was Madison, liora, and Alex Tsui. Day 2 of racing at AA champs saw many exciting swims from our team.  Whether it was one of our youngest swimmers, in Kevin Ye to our eldest in Sara Lau, our athletes performed very well this evening.  Nicole Welsh began the evening with a gold medal performance in the 400 IM.  Mackenzie McCord followed that up with a Silver medal in the 13-14 category.  Then Mac's big sister Madison finished up the event with a Gold in the 15 & and over category.
