Day 2 at the BC AA provincial Championship was another impressive day for our athletes!  After a slow start in the 100 freestyle our swimmers stepped up and got on a roll in the following events performing very well by acheiving many life time personal bests and qualifying for finals.  Ada Zhang and Mackenzie McCord and Lawrence Man  started in it off in the 200 Breaststroke's by getting into finals.Their success lead to even more of our swimmers earning second swim oppurtuniites in the 100 Butterfly and 400 FR.  Stepping up large in...

Congratulations to Magnus Batara for qualifying for the BC Summer Games team.  Magnus in his first full season competing as a Rapid, has performed extremely well. Magnus will be joining 6 other Rapids to represent Zone 4 this summer in Langley.  Magnus will also be competing in the BC AAA Championships July  8-11th in Kamloops.  Way to go Magnus!

6 Rapids Swimmers have qualified to represent Zone 4 at the 2010 BC Summer Games!    The Rapids swimmers who are all in our Provincial Age Group Program, will be competing in Langley July 23-25th.  The Zone 4 team is based on 12 -14 year olds that reside in Richmond, The City of Burnaby and the District of Delta. 10 Boys and 10 Girls were selected from the Hyack Swim Club and Delta Sungods, Wayland, & Winskill Dolphins to make up the Zone 4 team. This morning at the Mel Zajac International swim meet at UBC, Rapids swimmers set a new 13-14 year old boys provincial and National Age Group Record in the 800 Freestyle Relay!  The team of Bill Li, Nicolaas Dekker, Keegan Smith and Brandon DeCosta swam their way to a time of 8:24.58.  Our boys were able to hold off the UBC Dolphins team comprised of swimmers from Winskill Dolphins and Vancouver Pacific Doplphins to earn the record.  Their time smashed the previous BC & Canadian record of 8:32.82 held by the Vancouver Pacific...

The Richmond Rapids are proud to annouce that we will once again be running a summer program. In the past  few years the Rapids Summer program has been responsible for helping young athletes improve their swimming skills and be able to progress to higher levels in the Richmond Rapids as well as the local community swim programs.  It has also introduced new swimmers to the sport and some of these swimmers have even gone on to break some of our club records and medal at BC AA & AAA Provincial...

This weekend will be a busy & exciting weekend for the Rapids Provincial and National swimmers.   Competing at UBC in the Mies Schootman Invitational is the enire PAG and National programs. This is the first long course meet of the year for many of the kids and they look to be in fine form already with many personal best times after this afternoon's racing.
