The USA Swimming Foundation has released the nominations for the Golden Goggle Awards, a star-studded awards gala celebrating the accomplishments of top American swimmers in 2009. The event will take place Sunday, November 22 at the Beverly Hilton and will feature the 2009 U.S. World Championships swim team, including Michael Phelps (Baltimore, Md.), Rebecca Soni (Plainsboro, N.J.), Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.), Dara Torres (Parkland, Fla.), Ariana Kukors (Auburn, Wash.) and Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas). Broward County High School Championships Saturday, October 17th, 2009at the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex Psych Sheet Timelines Good Luck to all our PST Swimmers competing for their high school teams at the BCAA Championships.

FINA (the international governing body for aquatic sports) will be kicking off its fall World Cup Series this weekend in Durban, South Africa. Keep up to date on your favorite swimmers at universalsports.com. Other stops on the tour include Moscow, Stockholm, Berlin and Singapore. The World Cup is similar to the Grand Prix Series here in Amercia where athletes win prize money for wins and world records.

There will be no practice for all 3:45pm groups on Friday, October 9th due to the Sizzler at Sunrise. There will also be no practice for the 12 & Under water polo group on Friday, October 9th Also, due to the Sub Jo meet at Sunrise, there will be no practice for Coach Terrell and Coach Dolores' 5pm groups. The PST Booster Club is in need of items for Raffle Baskets at the Winter Championships Swim Meet. The Booster Club raises money during the Winter Champs Meet by raffling off gift baskets. The money from this project goes directly to our children. The monies raised during this swim meet pay for The Holiday Social, The Awards Banquet andtowards the purchase of necessary swim team items. USA Swimming - Scholastic All-American Team - Congratulations to Cheriesse Campbell and Courtney Randolph for being named to this years scholar athletes team. The Scholastic All-American program recognizes high school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who have attained a 3.5GPA and have attained a Junior National Championship - Bonus time standard, be in a selected disability championship meet , or competed in the Open Water National Championship.

On September 19, over 400 members of the USA Swimming House of Delegates overwhelmingly voted to move up the January 1 FINA ban of high tech suits. As of October 1, swimmers may only compete in textile suits, with male versions covering only from navel to knee, and female versions over the shoulder to the knee.
