2023-2024 WCAC Training Groups

**All ages listed below are for informational purposes only. Groups will be assigned at the discretion of our coaching staff. 

Team Trojans Pre-Team: (entering Kindergarten) - This group is for our new swimmers eager to embark on their journey towards joining the swim team. Geared towards refining fundamental water skills and instilling confidence, this program is ideal for those who want to improve their swimming technique can currently complete one lap with continuous forward movement without stopping while keeping their face in the water. 

In this group we will work on stroke techniques, endurance, and teamwork to prepare them for the swim team. 

It's important to note that entry into the Swimming Pre-Team is contingent upon individual evaluations and is at the discretion of our experienced coaches.

 

Team 1: (ages start at 6 and over) This group is for swimmers who can swim freestyle and backstroke legally and have the fundamental idea of Breaststroke and butterfly. Must be able to swim 1 lap without stopping.

Commitment expectation: attend 2-3 practices per week.

 In this group we introduce competitive swimming in a fun learning environment. Swimmers will learn how to swim all four strokes legally as well as learn how to do flip turns in freestyle and backstroke and learn how to properly dive off the Diving Blocks.

 

Team 2: (ages start at 8 and over) This group is for swimmers who can legally swim all four strokes, can do flip-turns and dive off the blocks correctly.

Commitment expectation: attend 2-3 practices per week.

In this group we will continue to prepare the swimmers for competition swimming and continue to work on developing their skills in all four strokes, introduce Breaststroke pull outs, IM open turns, and introduce endurance training

 

Team 3: (ages start 11 and over) This group is for swimmers who know how to legally swim all four strokes, know flip turns, pull-outs, Open turns and can Dive off the blocks. Must be able to swim sets of 100’s and 200’s.

Commitment expectation: attend 3-5 practices in a week.

In this group we will increase endurance training with a strong focus on stroke technique and skills.

 

Team 4: Entrance into this group requires a level of commitment in attendance, attitude, and work ethic. Swimmers must have proper technique and skills to be in this group.

Commitment expectation: attend 5 practices in a week.

In this group swimmers will continue to focus on endurance and have a continuation of developing race strategies and skills. Swimmers will be given strenuous aerobic workouts and will continue to work on proper technique and skills in the water.
