WCAC Swimmer Code of Conduct

This is a copy that all swimmers parents signed online when registering with the WCAC program.

Any swimmer who engages in vandalism, fighting, roughhousing, bullying, misuse of an electronic device, or other type of physical altercation during swim practice or any swim meet (home or away), as determined by the WCAC Board of Directors, will be subject to the following:

First Offense:

Depending on the severity of the incident, as determined by the WCAC Board of Directors, either:

• A written warning will be sent to the swimmer’s parent/guardian notifying them of the incident by the WCAC Board of Directors, or

• A suspension from all practices and swim meets (dual meets, invitationals, championships and clinics) will be imposed for up to 14 days. In addition, there will be a written notification of the incident sent to the parents/guardian of the swimmer by the WCAC Board of Directors and the swimmer will be responsible for repayment of damages done to any property as a result of the vandalism or roughhousing.

Second Offense:

• If first offense resulted in a written warning:

-A suspension from all practices and swim meets (dual meets, invitationals, championships and clinics) will be imposed for up to 14 days.

-A written notification of the incident will be sent to the parents/guardian of the swimmer by the WCAC Board of Directors.

-A face-to-face meeting will take place between the parents/custodian of the swimmer and the WCAC Board of Directors.

-The swimmer will be responsible for repayment of damages done to any property as a result of the vandalism or roughhousing.

• If the first offense resulted in a suspension of up to 14 days:

-A suspension from all practices and swim meets (dual meets, invitationals, championships and clinics) will be imposed for the balance of the swim season.

-Swimmer will not be eligible to participate in any WCAC post-season clinics nor will there be any refunds for fees paid.

-A written notification of the incident will be sent to the parents/guardian of the swimmer by the WCAC Board of Directors.

-A face-to-face meeting will take place between the parents/custodian of the swimmer and the WCAC Board of Directors.The swimmer will be responsible for repayment of damages done to any property as a result of the vandalism or roughhousing.

Third Offense (if applicable):

• A suspension from all practices and swim meets (individual meets, invitationals,

championships and clinics) will be imposed for the balance of the swim season.

• Swimmer will not be eligible to participate in any WCAC post-season clinics nor will there be any refunds for fees paid.

• A written notification of the incident will be sent to the parents/guardian of the swimmer by the WCAC Board of Directors.

• A face-to-face meeting will take place between the parents/custodian of the swimmer and the WCAC Board of Directors.

• The swimmer will be responsible for repayment of damages done to any property as a result of the vandalism or roughhousing.

Subsequent Offenses:

Any swimmer who was previously suspended due to a second or third offense and commits another offense, as determined by the WCAC Board of Directors, the next season will be subject to the following:

• Permanent expulsion from WCAC.

• Notification of the expulsion to the Suburban Aquatic League.

• WCAC will not issue a release for the swimmer in favor of another SAL team for one year.

• Swimmer will be responsible for repayment of damages done to property as a result of the vandalism or roughhousing.

• There will be no refunds due to the swimmer for fees paid.

Incident Report

An Incident Report will be filed by a WCAC coach for any acts of vandalism, fighting, roughhousing, bullying or other type of physical altercation during swim practice or any swim meet. The WCAC Board of Directors will review all Incident Reports and a summary of the report will be sent to the swimmer’s parent/guardian.

I/we parents/guardians of the above child have read and reviewed the WCAC code of

conduct with abouve child. We agree to comply with WCAC Code of Conduct.

TO BE READ AND COMPLETED BY PARENTS/GUARDIANS IDENTIFIED ABOVE:

The Wissahickon Community Aquatic Club does not carry medical, dental, or other insurance coverage on students. Under Pennsylvania law (Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act) WCAC is, in most cases, exempt from liability for injuries to swimmers. Therefore, all medical expenses incurred by any swimmer as a result of injuries arising from participation in any sport or other activity are the responsibility of that swimmer's parents or guardians. Parents should have adequate hospitalization coverage. By checking the box below:

1) I confirm that I have read the above insurance information and understand that I am totally responsible for all expenses for any injuries to my child.

2) I understand that participation in sports can be dangerous and may result in injury or death. I assume these risks when I register my child and agree to hold harmless Wissahickon Community Aquatic Club and its coaches, volunteers, staff and directors, for injury, death, or loss of property due to my child's involvement.

3) I give permission that, in the event of an injury or accident, my child maybe taken to the nearest doctor or hospital and given emergency treatment.

4) I hereby grant permission for my child to participate in swimming practices in accordance with the above agreements.

5) I agree that my child will abide by the Code of Conduct established by WCAC and Wissahickon School District which promotes sportsmanship, respect for others at all times, and a drug -free lifestyle. I also understand that failure to abide by this Code of Conduct may result in loss of my child's participation and membership privileges.
