**All swimmers and parents should enter Lakeview HS at the athletic entrance (on the lower level). Once you enter the building, take the first set of stairs on your right to the top. As you enter the long hallway, you will see the double doors on your right. WAIT THERE! Instructors will come out those doors and guide the children onto the pool deck. Swimmers should come prepared to swim with suits on under their clothes. Once the kids are escorted down the hallway to the pool, the parents will take all of the clothes, towels, shoes, etc..., with them to the bleacher area (all the way down the long hall and up the stairs in the cafeteria). Once the lesson is over, the instructors will walk your children over to you in the bleachers. Plan to arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson.
Group Descriptions:
Level One - Safety around water (CCSS Caps)
Explanation of the program - Teach swimmers to be Safe in and around water. Swimmers will learn floating, kicking, basic stroke mechanics, and basic breathing techniques. Other skills such as entering and exiting the pool safely, treading water, putting on a lifejacket, safely assisting others, will be targeted daily. Swimmer to in-water instructor will be 2:1 - 3:1
Cost: $65 per session (8 lessons)
Level Two - Stroke Development (CCSS Caps)
Explanation of the program - Swimmers in this group begin to swim on their own with little help from the instructors. This group will begin to explore the deeper water and begin to learn the four competitive strokes. Swimmer to in water instructor will be 3:1 - 4:1
Cost: $65 per session (8 lessons)
**Levels One and Two swim at the same time. Coaches will determine who moves into Level 2 on the first day, based on their past skills sheet OR a brief "tryout".
Level Three - Pre-Competitive Swimming (Teal LAC Caps)
Explanation of the program - Swimmers in this group can safely swim 25 yards of the pool. Much of the work in this group will be done in the deep water. This group will break down the stroke mechanics of all four competitive strokes. These swimmers will be invited to try competitive swimming within our Sunshine Toyota Sprint Series Home Swimming Meets. Swimmer to in water instructor will be 4:1 - 5:1.
